Spring and Easter

Inspired by a stamp…

Hello Everyone!

Last week, I created this card using part of Penny Black’s new Delicate cling stamp (40-832) which I had so much fun colouring. I think it’s such a clever image and started to wonder what it might look like if it was made from die cuts! So I set myself a little challenge – to create a similar scene using just die cuts! I pulled out my Penny Black dies and stamps and got to work!

First of all, I got to work on the foliage. I used the following sets: Frosted Greens (51-710), Daisy Delight (51-676), Garden Greens (51-652), Hanging Planters (51-501) and Spirited (51-721) and coloured them with distress inks. Next I turned to the eggs – I decided to use different size ovals which I cut from a panel I created from Distress Oxide inks. I used a die from the Border Collection (51-717) to cut off the tops of the eggs and saved a few remnants to add to my card!

Next up, the egg cups! They proved most challenging! The plant pot dies that I have are too small and the stamps that I have seemed too tall…. then I decided to get creative! I stamped out the pots from the Perfectly Potted set (30-874) and then trimmed them! I even used one pot to house the two smaller eggs!

Then it was time to adhered all my little egg planters! I created circle focal point using distress inks to ground my die cuts and then adhered them. I added a couple of the egg tops and a few die cut mini flowers (also from 51-501) as well.

Finally I added a sentiment from the Spring Day set (30-805).

This was quite a long process but it was totally enjoyable! It was so much fun finding dies to use and thinking around some of the creative challenges!

I’m going to enter this into the Just Us Girls challenge that has a theme of ‘Egg’ this week.

Embracing Green

Hello Everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the ‘Can You Handle the Pressure‘ challenge where the twist is green. Have I mentioned how much I love this challenge! It’s fabulous to actually use my collection of embossing folders!

As Easter is fast approaching, I decided to incorporate that into my card. I chose the Pebble embossing folder by Carabelle Studio because I always think it looks like eggs! (On that note, why are there NO Easter embossing folders??? I tried to get one that Darice made a few years ago but apart from that I don’t think I have seen any others… quite odd really!).

I decided to incorporate green by adding foliage to a die cut egg. However, after I had die cut the My Favorite Things Fab Foliage dies, I decided to switch things up a bit! I die cut an egg which I then coloured green with my Distress Oxide inks and then adhered the white die cuts!

Vintage Eggs

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the ‘Choose Two’ challenge at Just Add Ink.

The choices were flower, paper and/or pattern and I decided to use some of my patterned paper mountain – so I went for the second two of the trio, although you could say I also chose flowers as one of the papers includes flowers!

I was inspired by a CAS card that Fraeulein.diy shared last year on Instagram and pulled out some pretty papers from Basic Grey’s Lucille collection. I used Memory Box dies to cut the paper eggs and then threaded some thin twine before adhering the eggs to the card base. Finally I stamped a Memory Box sentiment to complete my CAS card.

Double challenge time again

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the ‘double’ challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches. This challenge combines colours AND a sketch… and can be quite tricky… but hey, that’s why they are called challenges, isn’t it?

For my card, I used the Oval of Flowers die by Simon Says Stamp and inlaid die cut pieces which I had coloured using Distress Oxide inks. I added a little definition to the pieces using coloured pencils. I layered the die cut panel on apiece of kraft card before adhering it to my card base. Finally I adhered a sentiment from the Easter Greetings set, also by Simon Says Stamp.

I’m also entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge where the theme is ‘Anything Goes’.

Egg Planters

Hello everyone!

Today I have my card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge using products by Penny Black.

I’ve been looking forward to colouring the Delicate cling stamp (40-832) ever since I first the new Springtime 2022 release! Isn’t it a fabulous idea? Perfect for either Easter or more general spring cards!

I decided to use a section of the stamp for the sketch challenge and coloured the image using my Twinkling H2O paints before splattering aqua paint generously! I then trimmed down the panel and fussy cut around one little flower so that it fell off the edge of the panel. I adhered it to my card base and added a strip of glitter paper, positioning that little fussy cut section on top.

I used the sentiment from last year’s Spring Day set (30-805) and fussy cut around it. I adhered it onto my card base – it’s actually strategically positioned to hide part of the foliage from the fourth egg cup!

Easter Bunny in Foliage

Happy Saturday!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge which has a palette of sage green, purple and cream.

After overthinking my card for this challenge last week, I found this one MUCH easier! Flora and Faura shared their cute bunny die on Instagram earlier this week and I knew that I just had to use him again so that was my starting point! I paired him with a Poppystamps egg frame, Altenew foliage and a few Spellbinders flowers coloured with distress inks! Plus a sentiment from Taylored Expressions! Lots of different brands here! It was so much fun to make!
