Hello everyone!

I decided to play along with the Addicted to CAS challenge which has a code word of ‘birds’ so for today’s card I used another Hero Arts Wood-mounted stamp, called ‘Bird Family’ from 2008!

I used the sketch and colours from the current My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge and Colour Challenge. Believe it or not, those birds are stamped on bright white cardstock! Honest! It’s so weird that the camera sees is as light blue. And I just don’t have the Photoshop Skills to correct the camera!!

Anyway stamping and colouring the birds, I embossed a section of card with the My Favorite Things Moroccan Lattice background stamp and smooshed some water colour over it. I then stamped a greeting, also by My Favorite Things and finally added a few dark grey glitter stars to finish off my card.

Flower swirl

Hello there!

Here is my Day 3 colouring for the Daily Marker 30 Day challenge and my personal wood-mounted rubber stamp challenge!

My stamp of choice today is the Flower Swirl by Hero Arts. It’s from 2011… I seriously can’t believe it’s almost 8 years since I bought this pretty!

Anyway, I’m also playing along with the Color Throwdown challenge which has a palette of aqua, saffron, brown and yellow. I stamped the swirl and the sentiment in Pearlescent Chocolate Brilliance ink which I then embossed with clear powder. I coloured each of the flowers using a mixture of Twinkling H2Os and Fossilised Amber Distress ink (for the saffron). To finish off my card, I added a few Nuvo drops… OK, I added a LOT of little Nuvo drops! They are just soooo pretty in this aqua/yellow/saffron combo, don’t you think!

Jade Heart

Hello Friends!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards and this fortnight we want to see CAS one-layer cards. The optional twist is ‘love’ as this challenge runs through Valentine’s Day! Our sponsor is Stamplorations and Shery has come up with a fun bright one-layer card!

I love one-layer cards but sometimes my one-layer cards can become a little busy! So I had to be very careful not to overdo it when I was creating this card! As you know if you’ve read my post on 1 Feb, I am trying to use at least one of my old wood-mounted stamps every day during the 30 Day Colouring Challenge and today is no exception! I stamped an older wood-mounted Hero Arts heart stamp with Pearlescent Jade Brilliance ink and then masked it off before smooshing some distress ink in the background. This is where I got a bit carried away with my first take. My smooshing ended up covering most of my card front – not very CAS! So I started over and tried again!

Once I was happy with my limited/controlled smooshing, I removed the mask and coloured around the heart with grey water colour to create a faux shadow. To finish off the card, I added a Reverse Confetti sentiment.

My team mates have some wonderful one-layer cards over on the AAA Cards site. We are also joined by the talented Mac Mable from The Sweetest of Peas – she has some amazing creations on her blog – you must check it out!

Dreaming of First Place

Hello everyone!

So for today’s 30 Day Colouring Challenge, I pulled out an old and sadly unused image from Magenta Art Stamps. Isn’t this horse the CUTEST! That face! I seriously can’t understand why I didn’t ink it up the minute I received it! I remember I had wanted it for quite a while and love the name of the stamp – it’s called ‘Dreaming of First Place’. So sweet!

Anyway, I coloured it using my Twinkling H2Os and decide it would be great to use on the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Unbelievably, I stumbled across some perfect patterned paper to create the striped background. Mind you, I have so much patterned paper that it really isn’t THAT surprising. I guess what is surprising is that I found this particular pattered paper in the second pad I flicked through!

To finish off my card, I added a small sentiment from Simon Says Stamp.

True love stem

Hello there!

I didn’t craft as much as I would have liked today, but I did make this card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

Ever since my glitter pastes dried up, I’ve been trying out new glittery pastes and today I used the Cosmic Shimmer Ultra Sparkle paste for the first time. Oh my goodness! The shimmer is amazing! I will post a little video of it over on Instagram!

Anyway, back to the card. I created the central strip using the paste over the Falling Hearts stencil by Simon Says Stamp. While I was waiting for that to dry, I cut the Poppystamps True Love Stem die from a couple of distress ink backgrounds; I then trimmed off the hearts from the purple/grey die cut and adhered them to the green die cut.

I pondered where to place the sentiment until I saw that there was a ‘perfect’ natural opening in the stencilled background that would fit a sentiment from my new Reverse Confetti set! Really very relieved that I didn’t mess up that stamping!

You are so loved

Happy Saturday friends!

Today’s playing along with two of my favourite challenges – the Color Throwdown and the Memory Box monthly challenge.

The Color Throwdown’s palette this week is navy, grey and green and when I saw it, I knew I wanted to incorporate flowers or foliage in someway. In the end, I decided to use one of the very first dies my mum bought – the Memory Box Serafina Heart die. She’s been taking a break from crafting for a while and I’m ‘looking after’ some of her craft supplies until she gets back into it!

I added the die cut to a navy heart, also by Memory Box and added a few pearls for the flower centres. I then embossed a Hero Arts sentiment on a grey background panel before lightly stamping a My Favorite Things background stamp using versamark ink.

I stuck the heart to the base card with funky foam and added a few more mini pearls to finish off my card.
