Under the Sea Collage

Happy Monday everyone!

First up today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown which has a stunning colour combo this week (aqua, ice blue and pale green).

I had one idea for this card, but then couldn’t find the stamp I wanted to use – goodness knows where it is! So I quickly had to pivot to a quick CAS card using Memory Box dies (under the Sea Collage, Delicate Sea Fan and Swimming Seahorses). Although the blended background turned out a little darker than I wanted, I’m happy that I was able to play with my new Salvage Patina distress ink again, it’s such a pretty colour!

I’m also entering this into the current Memory Box challenge where the theme is water.

Companions

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the current  Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I decided to use stamps from the new Penny Black Delight release today. When I saw the sketch, I immediately thought of the beautiful Companions cling stamp (40-769) which I thought would fit perfectly on the right hand side of the card against an ink-blended background. I stamped the image in Antique Linen distress ink and coloured it with my Twinkling H2Os. I couldn’t get the shimmer to show up in my photos sadly. After colouring, I masked off the image and created an ink-blended background, following the sketch. I think re-stamped the image to emphasise the lines (thank goodness for my MISTI!).

Finally I added a sentiment from the Thinking of You clear stamp set (30-825) and a few sequins.

Sketch challenge

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge over at CAS Colours and Sketches.

I really loved the sketch when I saw it because it takes me outside my comfort zone – I usually prefer to use an odd number of images on my card but this sketch had an even number (two circles).

For the card above, which is my entry, I used the fabulous My Favorite Things Houseplant die set with a Hero Arts frame die and a Memory Box sentiment. But I have to admit, it was actually my second card using this sketch. Here’s the one I made on Saturday:

I used flower dies by Creative Expressions and the Honey Bee Stamps woodgrain frame builder die set, plus a sentiment from Clearly Besotted. On Sunday, I decided to use the sketch with the MFT die set as well.

I prefer the plant card, but I’m totally into creating cards with plants and vases this year. Seriously I can’t stop buying vase dies! So which card is your favourite?

Botanical branch

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the current  Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

As you can see, I kept this super simple and super CAS! I used a die from my new Sugar Pea Designs Botanical Branches die set – I had been stalking the Seven Hills Crafts website waiting for them to get this in and I was so pleased to get my hands on it! I blended some regular distress ink over the die cut image and decided to leave the centres of the leave in situ.  I then cut the long fishtail tag using a Simon Says Stamp die, stamped an Essentials by Ellen sentiment and adhered the botanical branch before adhering it to my card base.

The sentiment is from a Sugar Pea Designs set.

Berry collage

Happy Monday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with two challenges – the Color Throwdown (red, light blue, kraft and ivory) and the sketch  from  Freshly Made Sketches.

This card came together very quickly – I cut a Simply Graphic berry die from kraft cardstock and then used Festive Berries distress oxide ink to colour the berries. I die cut different squares from coloured cardstock and layered all the  die cuts on to my card base.

The sentiment is from a Sugar Pea Designs set.

Smiles and Hugs

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along with the colour challenge over at CAS Colours and Sketches using products from Penny Black.

When I saw the colour combo, I immediately thought of using the greys with one of my favourite Penny Black dies – the Wonky Squares background die (51-424). I created two background panels with different grey inks and cut them both with the die, using the frame/outline from the darker panel and inlaying the shapes from the lighter panel.

I then die cut a couple of other inky panels with the Delicate Wings butterfly dies (51-010) and adhered it to my card. I cut the body section again using grey cardstock.  The stamped sentiment is from the Banner Sentiments set (30-423).
