Waffle Flower bouquet

Hello again everyone!

Next up today I’m playing along in the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches using dies from the Flower Stems set by Waffle Flower Crafts.

After colouring the dies cuts with Distress Oxide inks and coloured pencil, I cut an oval from my card base. I then adhered a piece of vellum embossed using the Simon Says Stamp Geometric Lattice embossing folder.

Finally I added a sentiment by Sugar Pea Designs, some sequins and stickles.

Vase of Chinese Lanterns

Happy Saturday!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge which has a fabulous palette of orange, turquoise, green and kraft.

A few weeks ago Simon Says Stamp released a new Chinese Lantern die, with inspiration from lots of designers, in particular the super talented Cindy. As a result, I was itching to play with a Poppystamps Chinese Lantern die that I bought about 5 years ago. I haven’t used it for a while, which is a shame because I love Chinese lanterns. Anyway, for my card, I coloured it with distress inks and added vellum (coloured with distress ink and pencil) behind each individual lantern. My blended background is a bit darker in real life – it’s a mix of Tumbled Glass and Broken China inks. The vase is by Waffle Flower Crafts and the sentiment is by Altenew.

Amazing vine leaves

Hello Everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the colour challenge at Sunday Stamps which has a the most amazing inspiration photo.

As soon as I saw the combo, I thought of the amazing colours produced when using Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Stain! It’s my favourite oxide stain because of its unique colouring that appears as you wet and dry it multiple times. So I made a quick inky panel and then cut it using the Simon Says Stamp Vine background die that was gifted to me by a sweet crafty friend very recently.

The sentiment is by Whimsy Stamps.

Tremaine Square centrepiece

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

It’s another fabulous sketch this week, and I had originally planned to use a different shape for the focal point. But then when I was going through my dies for another card, I spotted this beautiful Tremaine Square die from Memory Box and changed my plan for this card! I adhered it to a piece of kraft cardstock and added a few gems. I cut a couple of Impression Obsession butterflies from an old inky panel and added some detail using a coloured pencil. I also added a little butterfly by Simon Says Stamp because I like the rule of three!

To complete my card, I added a sentiment from an old Hero Arts set,

Luscious Lavender

Happy Saturday!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge which has a fabulous palette of celery green, sage green, pale pink and plum.

I’ve been wanting to use the Picket Fence Studios Lavender Cover Plate die for some time now and today was the day! I got inky with a couple of dstress oxides to create the background – I used Shabby Shutters and Spun Sugar, but both the colours ended up looking a lot more yellowy tham I had anticipated. I wonder if I should have used Caracked Pistacho and Kitsch Flamingo instead… may play with that combo at some point!

I coloured the foliage with Bundle Sage distress ink and blended Seedless Preserves and Dusty Concord for the plum colour.

The sentiment is by Pretty Pink Posh.

Heart-felt happy anniversary

Happy Thursday everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Poppystamps challenge which has the theme of ‘Heart-felt’ and challenges us to use a heart and/or felt!

So I knew I wanted to add two colourful felt hearts to this beautiful Poppystamps True Love Stem… but could I find my felt anywhere? Nope! It’s completely disappeared! I know I only use it once or twice a year but I must have tidied it into a clever spot when I did some reorganising….

Luckily I found a few lilac and white scraps and coloured the white scrap using an alcohol marker. I coloured the rest of the die cut with distress inks and adhered it to a panel that I’d embossed with a Carabelle Studio folder. Finally I added a sentiment by Sugar Pea Designs – instead of the valentine’s card that I’d originally planned, I converted  my designto an anniversary theme!

Now, who wants to bet that I’m going to find all my felt this evening?!
