Christmas, New Year and Winter

Christmas in July – Day 2

Hello everyone!

Christmas in July Day 2 (Day 18 of the colouring challenge) and today I inked up another older Stampendous stamp, Chickadee!

I coloured it using the fab, non-festive palette over at CAS Colours & Sketches this week, although I did have to use a drop of yellow for his beak!!

I added a sentiment from Penny Black complete my very simple card!

Christmas in July – Day 1

Hello everyone!

When I decided to play along with the Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring challenge using my wood mounted stamps again, I knew I wanted to find a way of using my Christmas stamps as well. Then I thought of Christmas in July and decided to use my festive wood mounted stamps for the second half of the 30 day challenge. I’m aiming to continue the theme during the rest of the month and expand my supplies to included dies and clear stamps… once the colouring challenge is over that is!

So, for Christmas in July Day 1 (Day 17 of the colouring challenge), I inked up an older Stampendous stamp, Owl Tree. I can remember where/when I purchased so many of my older stamps. But this one? No idea! I suspect I probably got it as a bargain…. but apart from that, its origins are a mystery! I do however remember where I got those little Lia Griffith/Hero Arts snowflakes I used for the background – I got them while standing in line during Create 2015. Complete spur of the moment purchase! Brings back fun memories of the event!

I used a sketch from a past My Favorite Things sketch challenge (Number 368… the old challenge blog seems to have disappeared and I can’t find any archives to link to). The sentiment is by Hero Arts.

Greetings window

Hello everyone!

OK, so I know when I planned my wood-mounted stamp challenge, I earmarked July for using my Christmas stamps. However, it seems I can’t wait for Christmas in July! It’s just Day 6 of the latest Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring challenge and my personal wood stamp challenge and I’ve already inked up a Christmas stamp!

In my defence, when I saw the Stampendous Greetings Window in one of my stamp boxes, I knew it would fit the CAS Christmas challenge so well that I just HAD to use it! The theme of the challenge this month is ‘gifts’ and I thought this stamp would be perfect for that!

I decided to use a sketch from a new-to-me challenge, TGIF Challenges, so my first step was to choose some patterned paper. I had my doubts about using a gift-themed paper as I was a bit concerned that it would be too matchy-matchy… but I think it works OK in the end. After embossing the image, I coloured it using my Twinkling H2O paints and then adhered it to my base card using sticky fixers. Et voila! Super quick and easy Christmas card done! Must remember this design when I create cards for the Caring Hearts drive later this year.

Let’s be merry, deer!

Hi friends!

I’m just popping it to share a very quick card I made for the CAS Christmas Card challenge where the theme is ‘deer’. I have so many deer dies/stamps that I could have played along with this challenge multiple times. Alas, March is pretty chaotic for me so I only had time for this super quick make.

I used an older embossing folder to emboss my deer onto the card base. I added a pair of eyes and a glittery red nose before stamping a Hero Arts sentiment. To finish off the card, I added a bit of chunky glitter.

Super quick and simple! Would be good for mass-produced cards so I may produce a version of this for the next Caring Hearts Card Drive.

Happy 2019

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the current Case This Sketch challenge.

I used a sketch to create a card for my dear dad – and I included glitter card and glitter nuvo drops! The only time of year that I can use glitter on his card!

I embossed an old wood-mounted stamp by Impression Obsession – I’m determined to use my wood-mounted stamps more frequently this year!

I also used an embossing folder I got from Michaels last April.

Hello 2019!

Hello there and Happy 2019!

Seriously, what happened to 2018? Didn’t it just fly by?! Scary!

Anyway, I wanted to share the card I made for my lovely mum! I used the My Favorite Things fireworks die and set about doing some inlaid die-cutting! I totally underestimated the time this would take – it turned into quite a labour of love, I must say!

The sentiment is from a Die-versions die – love the Art Deco feel!
