Christmas, New Year and Winter

Winter branch card

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

I was short on time this evening so I opted for a very quick make. I started with the fabulous new Woodgrain Circle (51-797) which I coloured with distress inks. Next I cut and coloured the Festive Finesse die (51-784) with distress inks and pencil. This is a very delicate die so I adhered two together to give it a little more stability.

I then blended Victorian Velvet distress ink over a strip of card and embossed it with my new Filigree embossing folder (65-010) before adhering all my elements to my card base.

To complete my take I added a few aqua pearls and a sentiment from the Nature’s Rubies mini set (30-937)

Noel in a tub card

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge which has a combo of cobalt blue,, aqua and gold.

I decided to play with a lot of my Black Friday crafty bargains – the Noel is from the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Winter Big Tidings die set and the foliage is from the Festive Gatherings set. I also used the new-to-me Garden Tub by The Greetery which I cut from gold pearlescent card which I had spritzed with Tumbled Glass distress oxide spray.

I adheered all the elements to a background that I had embossed with a Spellbinders folder and added a few gems to complete my card.

Christmas Card Throwdown – December Guest Spot

Hello everyone!

I’m honoured to be the Guest Designer for the current colour challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown!

I started with a piece of lilac cardstock and blended Villainous Potion distress ink around the edges and in towards the centre. I then embossed it using Penny Black’s Blizzard embossing folder.

I cut gold glitter and pearlescent card with the fabulous Pointed Evergreens die by Simon Says Stamp and layered the glitter trees on top of the pearlescent image, slightly offsetting the image. I adhered the trees to my card base and then added a small purple panel that I’d covered with rainbow embossing powder as I didn’t have the right shade of purple glitter card. I had wanted to use Distress Sparkle Texture Paste which I really like but it took a LONG time to dry completely and so I had to find an alternative.

The sentiment is from a My Favourite Stamps set.

The Design Team have some amazing inspiration over on the challenge blog – you must check it out! Hope you can play along with the challenge!

Beautified Christmas card

Hello friends!

Today I’m playing along with the current challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

I chose a beautiful image from a clear set that was released a couple of years ago called Beautified (30-870). I love this set – it has some really elegant images which are so relaxing to colour! I stamped the image twice in a diagonal pattern following the sketch and then coloured them with my beloved Twinkling H2O paints. I fussy cut around the two central pine cones so that I could tuck the sentiment strip under them a little.

The sentiment is from the same set and I have to admit that getting the wording in the ‘right’ position took me the longest time… but I got there in the end!

Tis the Season

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the current challenge at Freshly Made Sketches using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

As soon as I saw the tree in the new Berry Basket die set (51-796), I thought the images from the Decorated die (51-661) would look so cute hanging from the branches! I couldn’t wait to try it out today! Some of the images were a little too big and so I used the Bauble Border die (51-150) to supplement the images. I coloured all images apart from the candy canes with distress inks (I used pencil on the canes) and used a gold deco pen for the hangers.

Following the sketch, I inked a strip using Speckled Egg distress ink across a card base and a smaller piece of white card which I then embossed with the brand new Blizzard folder (65-013). After adhering the embossed card and the die cuts to my card base, I added a sentiment from the Holiday Snippets set (30-307).

Bottlebrush Trio card

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge which has a combo of white, black, dark green and yellow green – I don’t think they’ve chosen this palette before and I was excited to play with it!

I just saw a Flora and Fauna instgram post using their Tinsel Tree dies – love them although sadly I can’t get them in the UK, but I was reminded of a wonderful die that I do have in my collection – their larger Bottlebrush Tree. I found it and got cutting! I used regular coloured cardstock and decided to double up each tree with a sparkly die cut. I had some dark green glitter card that worked really well, but nothing suitable for the yellow green trees. So I used Holly Branch Mica Stain to create an inky panel which I then die cut.

I die cut some Penny Black pots from white glitter cardstock, added white glitter card dots to the trees and assembled the die cuts on a base that I had cut using the wonderful Sparkly Flakes coverplate die by Alex Syberia.

The biggest challenge was the photography! My camera and phone both interpreted the yellow green as yellow so I had to play around with the backgrounds and light intensity to get a better representation of the real-life colours. It took a while but I got there in the end!
