A Pumpkin’s Advice

Good morning everyone!

This week’s colour palette over at the Color Throwdown challenge is very me – rust, dark teal and cream! It also feels quite autumnal so I decided to ink up my Penny Black pumpkins stamp again. I only ever seem to use it at this time of year (here’s how I used it last year) which is a shame because it is so fun to colour.

I coloured the pumpkins using distress ink (rusty hinge and fired brink) and then masked them off before I stamped an Impression Obsession background stamp using Stazon teal ink. I embossed a sentiment from Riley and Co and finished off the card with a few Nuvo drops and some stickles!

I’m also entering this into the Penny Black holiday challenge.

Feline Batty!

Hello everyone!

Just popping in with a quick card that I made for the October Poppystamps challenge where the theme is ‘falling leaves and scary things’.

I chose the latter – although the cute batty feline doesn’t actually look too scary, does he?!

After stamping, cutting and colouring the images, I adhered them onto my new Benedetti frame. Isn’t it a gorgeous die? I LOVE art deco and just had to have it as soon as I saw it… well I really wanted most of the new Art Deco release, but had to exercise some self-restraint!

Happy Autumn owls

Hello everyone!

I’ve been wanting to ink up my Pretty Pink Posh Autumn Wreath stamps for a while now and today was the day!

I coloured the wreath with my Twinkling H2Os and then cut it with the coordinating die. I created a watermark-effect background by stamping some of the single images from the set onto my card base in Versamark ink.

I then cut a couple of the Poppystamps Whittle Owls and coloured them with distress oxide inks. To finish off the card, I added a die cut sentiment from Memory Box.

Happy Friyay people!

It’s getting closer to Halloween and I still haven’t got round to using the fabulous Sizzix/Tim Holtz ghost die that was part of the 2017 release. I loved this die so much that I bought the whole set! But, in my defence, I bought it in the sale so I snagged a real bargain!

I created a background with my distress oxide inks and then added the die cut ghosts which I had covered with a generous coat of Nuvo Aqua Shimmer gloss!

To finish off the card, I added a sentiment I cut from a VERY old Cuttlebug alphabet set.

I’m entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge – both have the same theme of Halloween/spooky!

Happy Halloween to you

Hello Everyone!

I’ve been seeing a lot of colourful Halloween cards in my Instagram feed recently so I decided it was time to pull out my distress oxides and make a few colourful backgrounds myself!

I love how well the oxide inks blend. Still love the original, but the oxide inks are fabulous for creating quick colourful backgrounds!

Once I was happy with my background, I spritzed/blotted some water droplets and then adhered my favourite Halloween purchase from last year – the Sizzix moonlit owl die – which I managed to pick up when my local craft shop was having a sale!

I added a sentiment from Poppystamps to finish off the card.

Autumn thank you

Hello everyone!

I’m here today with a new post for the Crafts-U-Love Design Team.

This month, all DT members were sent the same Julie Hickey Designs set – ‘Garden Treasures’ – isn’t is fabulous? When Caz told me that we would be receiving a JH floral set I was really hoping it would be this set! It is so versatile!

I decided to make a CAS ‘hidden sentiment’ card using just one stamp from this set. This week’s Color Throwdown challenge has a fabulous colour combo (orange, brown, rust and yellow) which I felt would be perfect for an Autumn Thank You card.

I masked off part of the card to create a square to stamp the images, chose a stamp and got to work!

Once I had finished, I die cut a ‘Thank You’ sentiment from the centre of my panel. This is always so nerve-wracking – I hate cutting into an image that I’ve created… but I love the effect of a hidden sentiment so I held my breath and cut!

I removed the die cut sentiment and stuck the panel to a card base. I then cut the sentiment from a piece of funky foam and adhered the two die cut sentiments together to create a dimensional sentiment – you could also use a could of layers of card if you don’t have any funky foam. I inserted the sentiment into the space on the base card and voila! A hidden sentiment card!
