Christmas in July – Day 28

Hi Everyone!

I seriously can’t believe it’s Day 28 of my Christmas in July challenge! I can honestly say I have LOVED creating mainly festive cards this month! So much fun!

Today, I’m playing along with the Memory Box challenge. The theme is ‘striped cards’ and I decided to case one of favourite cards from last year, Dashing Through the Snow!  I cut and coloured the Swift Reindeer die from Memory Box using my distress oxide inks and Twinkling H2O paints. I used an Echo Park stencil to apply some distress ink to my base card before stamping a Hero Arts sentiment. I then repositioned the stencil on the card base and applied a layer of Nuvo glitter paste.

Once the glitter paste was dry, I adhered the reindeer to my card base to finish my card.

Christmas in July – Day 27

Happy Saturday!

It’s Christmas in July Day 27! Back to die cutting today and a few Poppystamps dies! I decided to play along with the current Poppystamps challenge where the theme is ‘Animal Kingdom’ and thought that the Whittle Rudolph die would be absolutely perfect!

First of all, I blended a few shades of regular distress ink on a small panel of card which would serve as the base for my little festive scene. Then I cut the Poppystamps Tree Line Hill to cut another piece of card and coloured the trees with distress ink before adhering them to the blue panel. I used a My Favorite Things Peek-a-Boo rectangle die to cut a panel in my base card and adhered the blue panel to the inside of the card.

I used Distress Oxide inks to colour the Whittle Rudolph before adhering him to the scene.

Finally I stamped a sentiment from an older Clearly Besotted set to complete my card.

Christmas in July – Day 26

Happy Friyay Everyone!

It’s Christmas in July Day 26 and today I got to play with a stamp set that I purchased last Christmas but never played with – the Festive Flamingo set from My Favorite Things. I wanted to enter the current Christmas Card Throwdown challenge this week – the theme is ‘non-traditional image’ and I thought a flamingo would fit the bill!

I decided to use the sketch from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge so used an Echo Park stencil to ground the image. Now that I’m looking at my card on screen, I wonder if I should have chosen yellow rather than blue – to represent the sun’s rays! That would make it even less traditional! Ah well, next time!

Christmas in July – Day 25

Hi Everyone

Day 25 of Christmas in July and I’m die cutting again today! Today I used an older Memory Box die, Gabriella Border, from 2013, with the sketch from the current Case This Sketch Challenge – which nearly had me stumped by the way!

The embossing folder is by Taylored Expressions and the word die is from an older set by Simon Says Stamp. I

Christmas in July – Day 24

Hi Everyone

Day 24 of Christmas in July and I inked up another wood-mounted stamp today – the gorgeous Sparkle Snowflake by Impress Cards and Crafts. I stamped the snowflakes in Distress Oxide inks and then added some Nuvo Glitter drops. The stamped sentiment is by Penny Black.

I’m entering this into the current CAS Christmas challenge where the theme is snowflake.

Christmas in July – Day 23

Hi Everyone!

It’s Christmas in July Day 23 and I’ve been playing with my Hero Arts supplies again today.

I used a sketch from another a new-to-me challenge, the Inspire Create Challenges. I decided to case a card I’d made last year, inspired by Yana Smakula. I heat embossed the Hero Arts Christmas Lights background and coloured it with my Prismacolour pencils before applying a layer of Nuvo Crystal drops on top. I die cut a circle from a piece of black card and adhered it onto my coloured image using foam tape. To finish off my card, I added a Hero Arts die cut and an embossed word from an older Simon Says Stamp set.

I’m also entering this into the current A Blog Named Hero challenge where the theme is Christmas in July.

Thanks for stopping by!
