Eucalyptus Wreath

Happy Sunday everyone!

I seriously can’t believe we are in September! Autumn is in the air and having spent A LOT of the past month tending to my continually-growing garden, I am looking forward to spending less time on garden projects and more time on craft projects, hopefully!

I haven’t made many cards since Christmas in July when I made a card a day! So, I’m diving back in with one of my favourite challenges, the Color Throwdown! The palette this week is blue, purple and green and as I love the colours in their inspiration photo, I tried to replicate them for my take!

I was inspired by the Simon Says Stamp Etched Eucalyptus Wreath die from their Stamptember release. Being in the UK, it will be a LONG time before I can get my hands on Stamptember goodies this year unfortunately as the postal carrier has changed, so I’m using Stamptember inspiration with my current supplies instead. I created a wreath using coloured cardstock and the SSS Eucalyptus Leaves die, which I think may have been a Stamptember 2019 release? I stencilled some Cosmic Shimmer glitter paste to add some interest to the background before creating a wreath from the die cut leaves. To complete my take, I added a sentiment, also by SSS.

AAA Cards Sketch challenge with movies twist

Hi there!

It’s time for the a new challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using the sketch we’ve provided; our optional twist is ‘at the movies’! Our sponsor is Casual Fridays .

I’ve spent the last few weeks overhauling my craft room. Still haven’t finished, but I have discovered that my boxes of random stamps and dies contain some real gems which haven’t had a chance to shine on my cards. I wasn’t originally planning to play along with the optional twist this time, but when I saw this quote in a forgotten Stamping Bella sentiment set, I thought it would be perfect to use.

I really wanted to pair it with an evil dark dragon like the one towards the end of Enchanted, but I don’t have anything like that! I even searched through my patterned paper mountain, but couldn’t find anything…. the closest thing I had was paper with cutesy dinosaurs that looked anything but scary! So in the end, I used an old wood-mounted dragon stamp, Seedless Preserves distress oxide and some kraft paper. This turned out to be quite a different card for me, but I like that the quote has centre stage.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Ma-mi, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

AAA Cards One layer challenge with hobby twist

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a one-layer CAS card. Our optional twist this time is ‘my other hobby’. Joy Clair Designs is our sponsor.

One of my other hobbies is gardening – but I don’t do any baskets or pots of annuals and it’s been a few years since I went to Hampton Court Flower Show… so I guess gardening for me tends to be more like what I think our friends in the US call ‘yard work’ – you know, landscaping projects, weeding, pruning, shrub planting, mowing and watering. Oh my word, the watering this year….. I can’t be the only garden owner who is relieved that our heat wave finally broke at the end of the week!

Anyway, on to my card for this challenge! For AAA, one layer means just the card base, no additional die cuts unless it is inlaid into the card base. A one-layer challenge is mainly a stamping or stencilling challenge for me really. I’ve actually used clear stamp sets for a couple of gardening cards whilst I’ve been blogging (here and here), so I turned to my old wood-mounted rubber stamp collection this week! I used an old Funstamps stamp called Gardening Shelf which I felt was a good reflection of my yard work type of gardening!! I coloured the image with my Twinkling H2O paints… and yes, I do have purple gloves for gardening!! The sentiment is by Mama Elephant.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined by a previous challenge winner, Coni, who has some fun inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

Christmas Card Throwdown Guest Designer

Hello everyone!

During Christmas in July, I discovered a new-to-me challenge, the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown! I love the idea of creating one Christmas card each week and hope to continue to play along throughout the year!

I’m honoured to be the Guest Designer for their current colour challenge; this month’s palette is orange, green and gold.

What an interesting combo for festive cards! I actually worked with a similar palette during Christmas in July. I liked the idea of having a green background again but I wanted to switch it up a bit this time….

So, I created a blended background using Spiced Marmalade and Carved Pumpkin distress inks and a Taylored Expressions oval stencil.  I splattered and then lifted some water droplets before using a Uniko stencil with some green Nuvo embellishment mousse – love the shimmer from this paste!

I added a gold Impression Obsession deer and a Memory Box sentiment to complete my card.

The Design Team have some amazing inspiration over on the challenge blog – you must check it out! Hope you can play along with the challenge – I can’t wait to see how this palette is used!

AAA Cards Along the edge challenge with beach twist

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using just one edge of your card. Our optional twist this time is ‘beach’. Stamplorations is our sponsor.

We had a beach theme back when I had just started on the AAA challenge blog – see the card I made at the time here. I was tempted to use those fabulous beach huts again but then as I was reorganising my craft room, I came across the beautiful Stampin Up Summer By the Sea set that I’ve had for well over a decade. I don’t think I’ve ever used the boy/sandcastle stamp and thought it would be perfect for this challenge! And I love inking up those wood-mounted stamps, there is nothing like them! Of course cling and clear stamps are much easier to use nowadays with the MISTI and other stamp platforms! I coloured the image with my Twinkling H2O paints and added a sentiment from a Simon Says Stamp set to complete my card.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined by a previous challenge winner, Vicky, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!
