Butterfly Beauty cards

Hello again!

I mentioned earlier that today was a day of butterflies and here is my second butterfly creation. I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown challenge which has an absolutely STUNNING inspiration photo and a gorgeous palette of purple, pink, gold and white.

Once I saw those butterflies on top of the cake in the photo, I knew I also had to use butterflies and I finally put my Stampin Up Butterfly Beauty set to work! First of all, I inked up a panel using distress oxide inks. I chose Villainous Potion and Spun Sugar and then also blended in some Milled Lavender to tone down the Villainous a bit!

So here is where I have to say that the card above is not my first card for the combo….

You see, I die cut the blended panel and almost immediately felt that I’d made a mistake. But I went on and added the second layer cut from gold glitter card. I realised that the card I had in my mind just would not showcase the beautiful combo like I wanted. So I blended another panel and used that for my card base, assembling the die cuts from white and gold cardstock. I felt MUCH happier with the second version!

I added sentiments by Clearly Besotted and Mama Elephant to complete my cards.

Thanks for stopping by!
