Bundles of branches

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Just Us Girls challenge which has a super colour combo this week!

I love how a couple of Instagram cardmakers, Julia and Elizabeth, use coloured die cuts with the same die and their makes inspired my card! I used a brand new die from the Stamp Market’s Add Some Greenery die set, coloured with distress ink, plus an older sentiment die by Waffle Flower Crafts.

Bag of Happy Thoughts

Happy Friyay from a VERY windy London!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge which has a fabulous palette of light blue, dark blue, forest green and brown.

Dies from lots of different companies on this one – all coloured with distress inks! I knew I wanted to use my brand new Flat Paper Bag die by Waffle Flower Crafts, and paired it with the Memory Box Flower Cluster die. Once I assembled the images, I knew I needed more greenery so I added a few extra branches from the Altenew Branches and Berries die set.

I then cut a piece of patterned paper using a die from The Greetery’s Nordic Circles and adhered it to my card base before adhering the flower bag image. Finally I added a few Nuvo drops and a Mama Elephant sentiment to complete my card.

Thank you bouquet

Hi Everyone!

I’m popping back with my last post of the day and a second entry in the current Memory Box challenge to use a frame.

I’ve had this idea to use the frame from the brand new Pine Tree Frame die set for a little while and when my Simon Says Stamp Stamptember order arrived on Wednesday, I knew exactly what I wanted to create!

Living outside the US means I generally only order a couple of the collaboration sets each Stamptember. This year, the one that stood out to me was the Memory Box Fresh Cut Bouquet stamp set and it was the only one I ended up buying! I knew it would be a big set but I was still a little surprised by the size of the main image! It was actually a bit daunting to colour but I pulled out my trusty Twinkling H2O paints and got to work.

I cut around a few petals and leaves to partially cut the image with the frame die. I then cut the frame from silver card and adhered it to the bouquet die cut with a foam panel, which I then stuck to my card base.

I added an older Memory Box sentiment and a few gems to finish off the card.

Hi there flower!

Hello friends!

There’s another amazing colour palette from the Color Throwdown Challenge  this week – purple, light green, teal and ivory.

Here’s what I came up with – I finally used another brand new background die, bought eons ago plus The Greetery Sunflower dies and a Waffle Flower Crafts sentiment die.

Awesome die cuts

Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m playing along with this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge

Cecile has created a fabulous sketch for a square card – as I don’t seem to make many square cards, I decided I would stick to the shape of the base card, although I did tweak the shape of the elements!

I used products from so many companies for my take – the die cut frame is from the new Stylish Frame Trio set by Memory Box, the leaves are from Simply Graphic and the sentiment is from the Big Dots sentiments set by Waffle Flower.

I’m also entering this in the current Memory Box challenge to use a frame.

Stencilled flowers

Happy Saturday friends!

I’m playing along with the current CAS stencil challenge. This month the challenge is to stencil over a coloured background.

I love this challenge as it helps me practice/learn some techniques but have rarely entered a card because I find it quite difficult to incorporate the technique in a CAS card. Take my creation today for instance… it’s definitely simple but the ‘white’ (or in this case black!) space is limited. CAS is definitely my preferred style and I don’t usually struggle with other CAS challenges, but to be honest I’d probably prefer a wider frame if I was making it again…

Still, I looked back at the DT inspiration and also their past winners and decided to give it a whirl as the amount of ‘white’ space is comparable to some of those showcased cards…. it’ll be interesting to hear what the DT members think.

To create my card, I used an old blended background created with regular distress inks plus a Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous stencil. The frame was cut with a Studio Katia stencil and the sentiment was created using part of a Waffle Flower Crafts die.
