Christmas in July 2024 – Day 23

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 23 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024!

When it comes to festive feathered friends, I always gravitate towards the fabulous cardinal… but how can I neglect our humble robins!

I bought this cute Tiny’s Red Robin die set by Marianne Design last year but I never got round to using it. Well that changed today. It’s a brilliant layering die set – I particularly love how the lower body tucks under the wing and gives some great depth to the image!

After trying a few different foliage dies, I settled on using a couple of die sets by Waffle Flower – the Beaded Wreath die set and foliage from the Layered Winter Bird set. I love how JJ used woodgrain card for her wreath a while ago and just had to try it – fabulous texture!

The background is one of my favourite folders – Gemini’s Pinecone Plethora.

Easter Egg branch

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s been quite a while since I played along with a CAS Colours and Sketches challenge, but I finally had time this weekend!

I have to confess that I have taken a rather wide interpretation of the sketch with five eggs representing the five vertical lines in the sketch! But it was so fun to make, although it turned out to be a lot more fiddly than it should have been really! I used a Simon Says Stamp branch die which had built-in hangers for hearts an presents but of course, I had to cut the ‘hangers’ off the branch because I wanted to put the hangers for the eggs somewhere else…. and then I positioned the large egg too low ehich meant that my Waffle Flower hanger wouldn’t reach… I got through a lot of glitter paper making a longer one! Argh!

The eggs are by Poppystamps and the sentiment is by Clearly Besotted.

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 30

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 30 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in the Just Us Girls challenge to case a designer.

I chose to CASE this card by JJ Bolton – I love her style and this card caught my eye as it is such a fabulous way of showcasing the small ornaments dies by Waffle Flower Crafts that I bought recently. I chose a smaller colour palette and added silver mirror card behind each of by die cuts! This card was a labour of love! You would not believe how much time I spent arranging all those little ornaments.

I added a sentiment by Savvy Stamps plus a small holly sprig to complete my take on JJ’s card. Thanks for the inspiration JJ!

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 29

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 29 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today’ I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown challenge which has a peaceful palette of cream, kraft and powder blue.

For my card, I used The Greetery’s Rustic Wreath die set plus a few Waffle Flower ornaments. I’m a bit disappointed that the blue in the photos looks much deeper than real life!

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 25

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 25 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! Today I’m playing along in The Paper Players sketch challenge.

I’m continuing to work my way through my new Simon Says Stamp embossing folders – today’s card uses the beautiful Holiday Greenery folder, together with dies from Waffle Flower’s new Layered Winter Bird die set. There are a few medium-sized cardinal sets around at the moment and I’m loving this little guy!

Christmas in July 2022 – Day 20

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 20 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2022! I was originally going to enter this card in a CAS Christmas card challenge but I realised that I hadn’t met their rules of using only a third of the card base…. still, it’s worth sharing here as it’s still a make for my Christmas in July challenge!

I received my new Waffle Flower Winter Layering bird on Monday and decided to use that set, together with the gold diamond frame that I had cut for Monday’s card.  I coloured the bird and branches with distress inks and adhered everything to my card base. The sentiment is from an older set by Clearly Bsotted.
