Distress crayon new year

Hi everyone!

I’m sharing another New Year card today! I just love creating and giving these cards!

For this one, I pulled out my new metallic distress crayons! I was very pleasantly surprised by just how metallic they are – the Tarnished Brass is definitely my favourite one at the moment!

To create my background, I coated some cardstock with Distress Collage Medium to make it easier to blend the crayons. I had originally planned to use the Peacock Feathers, Broken China and Brushed Pewter crayons but I preferred the look when I substituted the Tarnished Brass for the Brushed Pewter! Anyway, once I finished blending, I cut the background with a Taylored Expressions Background die – as soon as I saw this die, it just screamed ‘New Year celebration’ to me and I was relieved to see how it turned out. Look at that shine from the metallic crayon!

Anyway, I stuck it to a base card and then stamped a Hero Arts sentiment using distress oxide ink (in Peacock Feathers).

I’m entering this into the current Timeout Challenge (new beginnings) and I’m adding this to the Simon Says Stamp Work It Wednesday challenge as I’m using two new items – the metallic distress crayons and the background die!

Day 25 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags

WOO-HOO! I made it to Day 25 of Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event, people! My Christmas Eve should be much calmer this year as I won’t be rushing to finish my tags! Mind you, I’ll probably be rushing to finish something else instead though!

The sponsor for Day 25 was Pink & Main. There was so much inspiration from the DT – so many beautiful tags! Pamela Peese’s tag really stood out to me and so I just HAD to CASE it, using regular distress ink and stamps from Create a Smile and Hero Arts.

Day 24 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The sponsor for Day 24 was Right at Home. There was more great inspiration in the gallery and I particularly loved the tag that Tracey created for this day! As I don’t have many Right at Home products, I used a die from Impress Cards and stamp from Simon Says Stamp for my take.

Day 20 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The sponsor for Day 20 was Waffle Flower Crafts. I was so shocked to discover that I don’t appear to have any Christmas sets from Waffle Flower – I’m sure I have and they are just hiding somewhere in my craft room! As I decided at the start of the challenge that I was going to use my festive stamps rather than repurpose my non-festive sets, I turned to my Ellen Hutson stamps for my take on Lindsey M-P’s cute stocking tag!

I enjoyed working with non-traditional colours so much yesterday, I turned to some more non-traditional colours again today!

I stamped and embossed the stocking before masking it off and smooshing some abandoned coral distress ink onto the background. When I removed the mask, some ink had bled through it, but I simply lifted it off using a bit of water. Once it was dry, I coloured the stocking using my Twinkling H2O paints before stamping a sentiment from the same Essentials by Ellen set.

Day 15 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The sponsor for Day 15 was Amuse: Christmas Visions. There was so much inspiration from the DT, but Tracey’s tag really stood out to me and so I just HAD to CASE it, using regular distress ink and stamps from Avery Elle and Simon Says Stamp.

Day 14 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The sponsor for Day 14 was Concord & 9th – another company I love! They always seem to come out with the most innovative products! Unfortunately, I only appear to have one Christmas set, but it contains a fabulous tree and some wonderful bold sentiments.

I loved Tenia Nelson’s tag – especially the background. I’m not sure how she created it, but I decided to make something similar using my Distress Stains. After stamping the sentiment and the tree, I added some white chalk paint and glitter for the snow.
