Day 14 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2018

Hi everyone!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event again this year.

The sponsor for Day 14 was Muse Christmas Visions – the team came up with some amazing inspiration but as soon as I saw Kim Heggins’s gorgeous Gina K tag, I knew that would be my inspiration!

It looked like Kim may have used distress markers and water for her tag. I don’t have many green distress markers so I stuck with the regular inks. It was quite difficult to get the amazing contrast that Kim managed to achieve, but I was quite happy with how my version turned out in the end.

The sentiment is also from the Simon Says Stamp/Gina K Stamptember collaboration set (Joy of the Season).

Day 11 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2018

Hi everyone!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event again this year.

The sponsor for Day 11 was Winnie & Walter. I have a couple of older festive sets and decided on a set which I don’t think I’ve used before – Season’s Tweetings – for my take on Tracey’s sweet tag.

I created a blended background with same distress inks that Laura used (Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans and Salty Ocean) and then trimmed it down before adhering the die cut window to the base.

I loved the colour palette that Tracey used – especially for her penguin’s scarf so I followed suit! I can honestly say that I think I used a Twinkling H2O paint that I have never used before – any you all know how much I love and use them! I heat embossed some stars on the tag base before creating the soft background with Distress inks.

Enjoy your trip

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards and this fortnight’s theme is ‘on the move’. Our sponsor is Happy Little Stampers. You may have seen that Kylie has very sadly decided to close down. She has a closing down sale at the moment – amazing bargains to be had there.

I decided to use a stamp from Happy Little Stampers’ Wish You Were Here set to create a CAS bon voyage card. I just love the detail on the London skyline stamp! I heat embossed the image and then lightly blended some distress ink over the background. I added a small sentiment from Simon Says Stamp and a little die cut heart to finish off the card.

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by the talented Kim from Joyful Creations as our Guest Designer. She has some fabulous creations – you must pay her a visit!

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

Watercolour poppies

Today I used another poppy stamp, this time by Stampendous.

I inked the stamp with distress inks and after stamping it on watercolour paper, I misted it until all the lines disappeared. After drying the red and green ink, I smooshed some blue ink as sky.

I then re-stamped the image in red and green and coloured in the petals.

To finish off the card, I added a sentiment from an old set by Stampin Up!

Jolly Snowman

Hi there friends!

The Color Throwdown challenge has quite a cool autumnal palette this week – red, kraft, aqua and orange, but I decided to use them for a Christmas card as I’m in the midst of festive cardmaking for the Caring Hearts card drive.

I used a fabulous snowman from the Papersmooches Cool Snowdudes set. This was a very easy shape to fussy cut, so you may be seeing more of him this year! Anyway, I stuck him to a panel that I had created by masking off an area I then covered with a light coat of Frayed Burlap distress ink followed by a stencilled layer of the same ink. I added a few little trees from an Avery Elle die and then the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp.

I’m also entering this into the current Freshly Made sketches challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (Anything Goes).

Beware of the Cat!

Happy Halloween friends!

You know, I have far too many Halloween supplies…. dies, stamps, embellishments…. and they are so much fun to play with! So, I banned myself from buying new Halloween supplies this year. Well, that came to an abrupt end when I saw Picket Fence Studio’s ‘Wicked Together’ set. Such fun images and sentiments… I HAD to have it!

For this CAS one layer card, I used my favourite two stamps from the set. I masked off a circle and blended some bright distress inks. I then fiddled with the sentiment FOR AGES until I got a positioning that I was vaguely happy with! Thank goodness for my MISTI, here!

Finally I stamped the fun cat in the circle and while I was tempted to add some glitter or bling, I decided that less could be more this time!

I’m entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge – take flight.

Have a great day all!
