Tim Holtz/Ranger

Featuring Tim Holtz/Ranger products

Hi there flower!

Hello friends!

There’s another amazing colour palette from the Color Throwdown Challenge  this week – purple, light green, teal and ivory.

Here’s what I came up with – I finally used another brand new background die, bought eons ago plus The Greetery Sunflower dies and a Waffle Flower Crafts sentiment die.

Peony Bowl

Hello friends!

I’ve had this gorgeous Peony stamp set from the Ton since March but I’d been waiting to use it because I wanted to spend my time colouring such a beautiful image. Today was the day! I used my new Daniel Smith watercolours and got to work with the current colour palette from the Color Throwdown Challenge – red, yellow, brown and green.

When I finished colouring, I didn’t feel that I had used enough yellow so I smooshed some Mustard Seed distress ink on my base card – yellow is definitely more visible now!

I didn’t want the sentiment to detract from the beautiful image so added a small Mama Elephant sentiment stamped onto a punched tag to complete my card.

Seasonal Stag

Hello!

I’m here with my penultimate Crafts-U-Love DT post .

This month, I received a couple of products by Marianne Design, the Tiny’s Deer Family die set* and the Classic Label die* .

I started by cutting the label die and largest deer from white cardstock which I then coloured with various distress inks.

I adhered the deer to my tag base and stamped a sentiment from the Julie Hickey Designs Essential Christmas Sentiments set.

I then tried the tag against a white background, but felt the background needed a little added interest.

I toyed with doing some stencilling or dry embossing but in the end I decided to use some off-white paper by The Paper Boutique. The pack I used was sent to me for a past DT post; it’s no longer in stock at Crafts-U-Love, but the Christmas Visitor pack and the Happy Days pack have similar colours. After trimming the paper to size, I stamped a few little stars from another Julie Hickey Designs set.

To finish off the tag, I added some stiffened ribbon which I curled by twisting it around a paint brush before adhering the tag to my card base using foam pads.

Inlaid Butterfly

Hi there!

It’s time for a new challenge at AAA Cards! This fortnight we’d like you to create a card using up to one third of your card base only and the optional twist is an inlaid die. Our sponsor is Funky Fossil Designs.

When I saw our sponsor, I knew I had to incorporate one of my Funky Fossil stencils… but the challenge was how could I use a stencil, an inlaid die and only use a third of my card! After a bit of thought, I decided to use my favourite Funky Fossil stencil, Shrubbery, and inlaid a small Waffle Flower Crafts butterfly. The sentiment is by Sugar Pea Designs.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. Hope you can play along with us!

Bright sunflowers

Hello friends!

I’m finally back at my craft table after a short break and decided to play along with one of my favourite challenges and my brand new set of dies, the BotaniCuts sunflower dies from The Greetery. Such a great set!

Anyway, I thought they would be perfect for the gorgeous colour palette over at the Color Throwdown Challenge this week – navy, mustard, coral and cream.

I created a few inky backgrounds from my Distress Oxide inks and then used them for my sunflowers. I embossed a navy panel with a folder that I picked up in JoAnns, adhered the flowers and then added a Simon Says Stamp sentiment and a few gems to finish off my card.

Feline Fine

Hi there!

It’s time for a new challenge at AAA Cards! This fortnight we have a sketch for you and the optional twist is animals. Our sponsor is Craftyscrappers

I decided to use the Penny Black FeLINE die so first of all, I created a wall for them to sit on using a My Favorite Things stencil and some distress ink. I then created a small section of sky before adhering the cat die. I played around with various sentiments but in the end I decided to leave the card blank. I must say these cats remind me of my team mate Maaike’s cats – so this card may end up in her mail box one day!

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. Hope you can play along with us!
