30 Day Christmas Card Challenge 2024 – Day 2

Hi everyone!

I’m playing along with Martin’s 30 Day Christmas Card Challenge this month.

Today’s challenge is ‘Gingerbread Dreams’. I couldn’t find any gingerbread stamps or dies in my rather extensive collection but then I remembered the Gingermas House that I received in Pinkfresh Studio’s Holiday event kit!

I embossed it on kraft and coloured it with my Prisma coloured pencils. I embossed a kraft background panel with a Spellbinders folder and added The Greetery’s Pine Wisp die cut (which is actually cut from antique gold card) before adhering the house and adding a few pearls to complete my card.

Color Throwdown Guest Spot

Good morning everyone!

This week, I have the honour of being the Guest Designer over at one of my favourite challenges – the Color Throwdown Challenge. Funny story – I was last the GD for their challenge a year ago today!

The palette for this challenge is light blue, cream and kraft, a fab combo! I was originally going to create a bouquet/vase combo but then I changed my mind!

Instead,  I pulled out The Greetery’s Wheat botanicuts set and cut it from white regular card and cream pearlescent card. I coloured the white card with Antique Linen distress oxide ink and I dusted the pearlescent card with the same ink for extra depth of colour. I mixed the two types of card when assembling the heads of the wheat stems.

I arranged the wheat into a bundle and added a blue glittery bow from the Fit to be Tied die set. I then smooshed some Frayed Burlap distress ink onto a white card base and adhered the bundle on top.

I felt that the card needed a little more blue so I added some birds from the Simon Says Stamp Layered Bird Bunch set. They are coloured with Stormy Sky, Frayed Burlap and Pumice Stone distress inks.

There’s some amazing inspiration from the Color Throwdown DT over on the challenge blog – I do hope you can play along this week!

Kitty Family Portraits

Hello everyone!

I took a few days away from my craft room after the cardmaking frenzy that was Christmas in July. I was very happy to get back in there this weekend. Yesterday wasn’t too successful and I didn’t like what I was creating, so today I turned to the fabulous Freshly Made Sketches challenge!

I was originally going to use the small embroidery hoops by The Greetery with flowers or birds, but then I decided on kitties! These mischievous felines are from the Sneaky Kitties die by Simon Says Stamp. I coloured them with distress inks and added some Craft Consortium paper to create walls for them to peek over.

The background embossing folder is by Stampin’ Up and I used a Newton’s Nook sentiment.

Thank you forget-me-nots

Hi there!

After a busy day in my garden yesterday, I rewarded myself with a full day in the craft room today. First up is the card I made for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge where the colour palette is light blue, grey and brown.

I pulled out a couple of older Greetery dies for my card – the Forget-Me-Not and Wood Slices die sets. I coloured the images with alcohol marker and distress inks – I was happy to use my brand-new Scorched Earth distress ink for the edge of the wood slice and also smooshed some Lost Shadow onto my card base!

After adhering the die cuts to my card base, I added a sentiment from a new set by The Greetery to complete my card.

Lovely Lilac

Hello again!

Don’t you just love it when you get your hands on fabulous new goodies as soon as they are released? My order from Seven Hills Crafts arrived this morning and I could not wait to play with my new Greetery dies and stamps! So next  up today is my entry for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I really wanted to emphasise my focal point -a stem from the new Lilacs Botanicuts die set by The Greetery so for me the challenge with this sketch was incorporating the two strips on the sketch into my design without compromising that aim.

I ended up using lots of white on white. I cut a panel of card using a die from the Macrame Openwork Base Die Set (I cut it twice to extend the width of the die cutting) and adhered a strip that I had used with the Aida Cloth Texture die.

Finally I added a sentiment from the brand new All Occasions Script Sentiments set.

Hoops Galore!

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge which has a beautiful combo of pink, purple and green.

I used more items from my New Things box today – the Embroidered Blooms dies, Hoopla mini die set and Aida Cloth die from The Greetery’s Handiwork collection last summer. I coloured each of the die cut elements with distress inks. I was originally intending to cut the hoops from kraft card, but decided to use pink and purple hoops instead – I’m glad I did as I I think the kraft may have overpowered the delicate shades of the palette that I chose.
