Skating Bear

Hi there everyone!

Well I’m clearly on a roll with my return to My Favourite Things’ challenges. After completing a card for the colour challenge yesterday, today I got to work on the current MFT sketch challenge.

I’ve been meaning to play along with the cute MFT polar bears again and the sketch seemed like the perfect opportunity! I stamped and coloured the skating bear using my Altenew Watercolours and then masked off the image to create a soft ink-blended background. To create the blue vertical panel, I embossed the MFT Scribble Circles background stamp and then applied a watercolour wash using one colour from the Altenew set.

Sunflower thoughts

Hi there everyone!

I’ve been getting to know my new Altenew Watercolour paints and thought it would be fun to practice and enter a watercolour challenge at the same time. The theme of this month’s CAS Watercolour challenge is ‘sunflower’ – perfect opportunity for me to ink up my wonderful Penny Black sunflower wreath stamp and practice on that.

I really love the consistency of the Altenew paints. The colours are quite vibrant (especially the lighter ones) – which is different for me as I generally favour more muted colours, but it’s fun using something different, right?! I admit, I had to walk away and come back to this a few times!

Once I had finished colouring, I splattered some gold paint on top of the image and mounted it to my base card before adhering a frame with foam tape. I added a Hero Arts sentiment to finish off the card.

Happiest of birthdays

Happy Friyay people!

My Altenew Watercolour paints arrived this morning so I had a fun afternoon swatching and playing with them! They made using this week’s Color Throwdown challenge palette (aqua, peach, light grey and white) very easy indeed!

I finally inked up and embossed part of the Simon Says Stamp Centre Cut Flowers stamp and coloured it with my new paints.  I dry embossed a strip of grey cardstock and adhered it to my base card before adding the coloured image.

To finish off the card I added a sentiment from My Favorite Things.

I’m also entering this into the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge (anything goes).

Geranium blossoms

Hi everyone!

I’m so happy that Die to Die For here in the UK is stocking Pretty Pink Posh stamps and dies as I love them!

Anyway, today I used the fabulous new Geranium flower stamps and coordinating dies. I coloured the images using my Zig Colour brush markers – I definitely need more practice with them but I enjoyed playing with them.

I stuck them to a base that I’d created by smooshing distress ink and thenadded a sentiment die’ also by Pretty Pink Posh.

Wonderful Friend

Hi everyone and Happy Saturday!

I decided to get my Avery Elle liquid watercolours out today as it’s been quite a while since I used them.

I embossed the Simon Says Stamp Mod Flowers background stamp using Hero Arts satin pearl powder and then applied a light gold paint wash across the whole background before colouring in the image. I used two coats of each colour, although I diluted the red a lot. This is so shimmery in real life!

When the panel was dry, I cut it in half (yep, expect to see a card with the other half one day!!) and adhered it to my base card. I added a die and stamped sentiment also by Simon Says Stamp to finish off the card.

I’m entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge (colour it) and also the Flower Challenge where I have chosen Challenge No. 11 – focus on background stamping.

Be the rainbow

Happy Friyay everyone!

I’m playing along with the current Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge (‘all things bright and beautiful’) and using Paperartsy stamps. I found this sentiment on one of my Paperartsy sets and it inspired the whole card. Isn’t it wonderful? Words to live by, don’t you think?

I used my Zig Watercolor brush markers to colour the image and then masked it off to create a blended/stencilled distress ink background.
