Day 5 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2018

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The sponsor for Day 5 was Newton’s Nook. I love Newton so I had a lot of choice when it came to choosing supplies for this tag! I loved the inspiration tags and decided to use one created by Tracey McNeely herself for my inspiration.

Anyway, I coloured Santa Paws Newton and the chimney with my Prismacolor pencils and embossed a few snowflakes before applying a light coat of Tumbled Glass distress ink. I also added a healthy amount of Nuvo Aqua Shimmer to Newton, the tag is so shimmery in real life!!

Day 4 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2018

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The sponsor for Day 4 was Reverse Confetti. I don’t have any Christmas sets by Reverse Confetti but, having seen how the designers used a circles set, I decided that their  You are a Star set would work very well.

Lindsey M-p‘s tag provided my inspiration. Whilst she used the reverse of a stamp to create her background, but I couldn’t do that with the star set as the large images weren’t cut very close to the star shape. Instead, I used a smaller solid star stamp from the set and did some second generation stamping in green and red, like Lindsey. I embossed the large star in gold tinsel embossing powder – it’s so sparkly in real life!

Jolly Snowman

Hi there friends!

The Color Throwdown challenge has quite a cool autumnal palette this week – red, kraft, aqua and orange, but I decided to use them for a Christmas card as I’m in the midst of festive cardmaking for the Caring Hearts card drive.

I used a fabulous snowman from the Papersmooches Cool Snowdudes set. This was a very easy shape to fussy cut, so you may be seeing more of him this year! Anyway, I stuck him to a panel that I had created by masking off an area I then covered with a light coat of Frayed Burlap distress ink followed by a stencilled layer of the same ink. I added a few little trees from an Avery Elle die and then the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp.

I’m also entering this into the current Freshly Made sketches challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (Anything Goes).

Day 2 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2018

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The sponsor for Day 2 was Altenew. I love Altenew and have all their inks and quite a few florals and dies… but not that many Christmas stamps. I really want the new ornament stamp set, but I’ve managed to resist…. so far…

I loved the inspiration tags and decided to use Svitlana Shayevich‘s tag as inspiration – I offset my stamped image (from the Sketched Evergreen set) and used the same colour palette as Svitlana.

Bubble Bauble

Happy Friyay everyone!

I’m so excited that my Simon Says Stamp order arrived very quickly this month! I couldn’t wait to start playing with my new Ornate Ornaments stamps!

I was totally inspired by this card by the super talented Gayatri and had to CASE it! I stamped the ornament several times and coloured them using my Prismacolor pencils. I still felt the card needed something a little ‘more’ so I added some orange dots. I covered some of the bubbles with Tonic Studios Nuvo Crystal Glaze and then finished off the card with a die cut sentiment also by Simon Says Stamp.

I’m entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge – anything goes.

Pumpkins and Smiles

Hi there everyone!

I can’t believe it’s November, can you? Lots of fun challenges on social media this month and I’m hoping to play along with two of them – Kathy Racoosin’s The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge and Tracey McNeeley’s 25 Tags of Christmas.

So, onto my colouring for Day 1 of the Daily Marker challenge. I inked up Newton’s Pumpkin Patch and got to work with my twinkling H2o paints. Can you see the shimmer? I wanted to include my mum’s two cats – Oscar (white and red) was easy enough but Minnie (ginger) was quite a challenge as I had already used a lot of orange for the pumpkins!
