Circles Collage

Hello Friends

Happy Monday! Today I’m playing along with the  Freshly Made Sketches challenge using another part of the fabulous Carabelle Studios Circle Collage background stamp that I used yesterday.

Using my MISTI, I inked up 3/4 of the stamp with Antique Linen distress ink. I then watercoloured the backgrounds of each circle before stamping the image again using Frayed Burlap distress oxide. Colouring the image this way means that the ink lines don’t get too blurry.

To complete my take, I added a sentiment by The Ton Stamps.

AAA Cards One Inch Strip with small stamps twist

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using a strip of just one inch of your card base only. Our optional twist for this challenge is ‘small stamps’!

Although I have a zillion small stamps, I didn’t actually use them for this challenge. Instead I used parts of a Carabelle Studio background stamp (Circles collage). I stamped various circles from onto an inky background I created with distress inks some time ago, leaving a space in the centre of the one inch strip. I then lifted some ink from the centre of the circles using water.

I was originally going to add a die cut sentiment, but how many sentiment dies do I own that are less than an inch? The answer is not many…. and those that I do have didn’t really work so in the end I went with a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Brush Stroke Messages set which fit perfectly in the space.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Asa, who has come lovely cards on her instagram feed!!

Hope you can play along with us!

Fluttering by…

Happy Friyay friends!

I’m playing with more products from Penny Black’s beautiful Daydream collection.

After a snowy start to the week, it’s starting to look more springlike here now, although it’s still pretty chilly. Sadly the magnolia blooms have a lot of frost damage, but we’ve got a few cherry blossoms, so I decided to use them, along with the Time Out challenge photo, as my inspiration today.

I lightly blended some distress ink over part of my card base and then using Distress Oxide ink and markers, I stamped the main flower image from the Flying Colors stamp set (40-739). I used my Prismacolour pencils to add some detail to the flowers.

I stamped a large sentiment from the Snippets (30-283) set and then added some ink splatters. I thought they were a little dark at first but I’ve got used to them now!

Finally I added a few butterfliew from the fabulous Flourish & Butterflies die set (51-198).

I’m entering this into the current Time Out Challenge .

A host of golden daffodils

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown (yellow, salmon/orange, green and white).

Of course when I saw the palette and the inspiration photo, I knew I had to do another daffodil card. This was a labour of love! I used the daffodil border stamp from the Pretty Pink Posh Spring Days set and fussy cut the images. Then I coloured them all in… which took forever! Finally the colouring was done and I was able to layer my images on the card base. I used a Memory Box sentiment to complete my card.

I have had the beautiful Wordsworth poem in my head all weekend, so I wanted to share it here:

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

AAA Cards One Inchie challenge with black and white twist

Hi there!

It’s time for the a new challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using just one inch of you card base only. Yes, that’s right, everything should be inside that one inch square, even a sentiment if you choose to add one! Our optional twist is ‘black and white’!

I must confess, this one is TOUGH! I had no idea how small a one inch square was until I got our some ‘suitable’ stamps to use, only to discover that they were all much too big. I ended up using this cute kitty stamp by Magenta.

Following our challenge rules, I chose not to add a sentiment within the one inch image.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Hannelie, who has some beautiful CAS inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

AAA Cards sketch challenge with watercolour twist

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using the sketch below and if you want to join with our optional twist, please use watercolour in some way!

For the main image, I used an older stamp from a Hero Arts wood mounted set. It’s actually dated 2006. How can that possibly be 15 years ago? Yikes! Anyway, I stamped it on some watercolour paper and then coloured it using my Twinkling H2Os. This totally shimmers in real life! To complete my card I added a few dots of gold Stickles and added a Simon Says Stamp sentiment.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog.

Hope you can play along with us!
