Christmas in July 2023 – Day 25

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 25 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2023! Today I’m playing along with this week’s Just Add Ink sketch challenge.

I had originally intended to colour a background stamp for this card but when I was going through my cling stamps, I spotted this cute Hero Arts set called Merriest Christmas Wish from 2011! Back in the day, there were no ‘clam shell’ stamp positioners and I never managed to get a decent impression using a clear block. So it languished at the back of my cupboard… until today!

I used Villainous Potion distress oxide – and was very relieved to discover some cardstock that matched the colour so well!

The sentiment is from the same set.

Christmas in July 2023 – Day 22

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 22 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2023! Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown challenge using products by Penny Black.

This week’s colour combo is green, fuchsia, terracotta and light grey. Having seen the inspiration photo, I was sorely tempted to create Christmas cactus but in the end, I decided to ink up one of my favourite Penny Black trees, Tannenbaum (40-262). How can this be dated 2013? I think it has stood the test of time and is a true classic!

I started by creating an ink-blended background with distress inks and then stamped the image, masking off various sections. I always love colouring the tree’s garland and I was sorely tempted to use little pompoms like I did for this card back in 2020, but in the end I coloured it with my Twinkling H2Os and added a few gems.

The sentiment is from the Shine Upon You mini set (30-928)*.

Christmas in July 2023 – Day 19

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 13 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2023! Today I’m playing along with the theme challenge at the 52 Christmas card challenge.

When I saw the theme was pets, I immediately thought of my Stampendous Kitty Claws wood-mounted stamp. I can’t believe it’s been FOUR YEARS since I last used him for this card. This time, I paired him with a Spellbinders embossing folder which I used for the centre strip. I saw that the embossing made the strip edges appear wonky so I hid them with a generous application of stickles!

Christmas in July 2023 – Day 17

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 17 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2023! Today I’m playing along with this week’s Just Add Ink challenge which has a fabulous festive inspiration photo this week.

I’ve been struggling with my crafty mojo this month so I decided that I would use some old Freshly Made Sketches to help me along. Today the random generator came up with number 169 and it was actually a perfect sketch for a Penny Black stamp that I had been wanting to use again – the beautiful Nature’s Decor mini stamp set (30-608). I coloured it with my Twinkling H2O paints, cut it out and added a couple of elements from the Jumble Bauble diet set (51-743)*. I then added the sentiment from the Nature’s Rubies mini stamp set (30-917)*.

For the two strips, I used a border from the Geometric Borders die set (51-196) which I cut in half and then added some stickles to the centres.

Christmas in July 2023 – Day 12

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 12 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2023!

First, I created an ombre ink blended panel with distress oxide inks and cut it with the fabulous Immense Joy die (51-742) kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

I then stamped the cute snow cat from the Snow Days stamp set (30-882) on my card base and coloured it with my Twinkling H2o paints. You can’t really see it in the photo, but I coloured a background as well. To complete my card, I added some glitter to the snowcat – it’s so sparkly in real life!

Christmas in July 2023 – Day 10

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 10 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2023!

I didn’t have too much time to craft today and when I was flicking through my festive stamps, I spotted this pretty tree set by Kay Carley for Paperartsy which I bought several years ago.

I stamped the largest tree image directly onto my card base and used the coordinating stencil to colour a tree shape with Peeled Paint distress ink. I lifted the ink from the flowers using water and applied some aqua shimmer on the petals and added some stickles – this card really shimmers!

The sentiment is by Mama Elephant.
