Technique – inlaid die-cutting

Featuring inlaid die-cutting

Sparkling Chinese Lanterns

Hello!

I love Chinese Lanterns and so I just had to have this new gorgeous Poppystamps die as soon as I saw it!

I coloured the die cut using my Twinkling H20’s and then inlaid some coordinating glitter paper (which I found after I had coloured the image – still can’t believe I had such a good match).

I cut an oval from my base card and then stuck some acetate to create the window before adhering the die cut and a sentiment die cut, also by Poppystamps.

I’m entering this into two challenges: Poppystamps Monthly Challenge (Just Bling it) and Less is More Challenge (Anything but Stamps).

Rainbow Ball Wreath

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards. This fortnight’s theme is ‘rainbow’ and Stamplorations is our sponsor.

For my card, I used the brand-new Ball Wreath from Poppystamps and inlaid pieces cut from card I had coloured with distress ink. That took quite a while, I must say! Anyway, I added a sentiment from a set by Simon Says Stamp/Darkroom Door Stamps and resisted the urge to add any bling!

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by Guest Designer Chrissie from Simply One of a Kind. She has some amazing creations on her blog, so please drop by her site!

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

Blooming Lotus

I loved the sketch for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge, but it took me quite a while to decide on my card. Then I remembered the gorgeous Memory Box Blooming Lotus outline die! I bought it online a few years ago, but never used it because it was so much bigger than I had expected! I thought it would be perfect as the focal point for my entry.

I used distress inks to create a background which I then cut and inlaid into an outline cut from glitter paper. It’s so sparkly in real life!

Celebrate red, white and blue!

Hi everyone!

I used a gorgeous die from Poppystamps together with a Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz sentiment for today’s card. I must confess that the inlaid die cutting took quite a while – lots of tiny pieces to stick down!

This card is for a number of challenges: Less Is More (use your flag’s colours – I used the colours from the Union Jack), Case this sketch and Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge (use red, white and/or blue).

Gilded leaves

Hi Everyone!

Jennifer McGuire shared some techniques for using gilding flakes in this week’s Shimmer and Sparkle class. I had never tried them before, but got my hands on them in record time (thanks Sir Stampalot!) and had such fun playing with them! They may be making a frequent appearance in my future cards!

Anyway, for this card, I used a die from Simon Says Stamp, which I coated in double sided tape and then added the flakes. The sentiment is an older stamp from Hero Arts.

I’m entering this into the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge and also the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge (favourite technique).

Thanks for looking!
