Technique – ink blending

Featuring ink blending

Enjoy your trip

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards and this fortnight’s theme is ‘on the move’. Our sponsor is Happy Little Stampers. You may have seen that Kylie has very sadly decided to close down. She has a closing down sale at the moment – amazing bargains to be had there.

I decided to use a stamp from Happy Little Stampers’ Wish You Were Here set to create a CAS bon voyage card. I just love the detail on the London skyline stamp! I heat embossed the image and then lightly blended some distress ink over the background. I added a small sentiment from Simon Says Stamp and a little die cut heart to finish off the card.

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog and we are also joined by the talented Kim from Joyful Creations as our Guest Designer. She has some fabulous creations – you must pay her a visit!

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

Day 10 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2018

Hi everyone!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event again this year.

The sponsor for Day 10 was Studio Katia. I don’t have any of their stamps but I do have a few of their dies and decided to use the Creative Stitched Window die for my take on Laura Volpes’s amazing tag.

I created a blended background with same distress inks that Laura used (Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans and Salty Ocean) and then trimmed it down before adhering the die cut window to the base.

I stamped and cut the Mama Elephant Arctic Penguins and adhered them to the tag, together with a sentiment by My Favorite Things.

Day 3 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2018

Hi there!

I’m playing along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year.

The sponsor for Day 3 was Concord & 9th. I love C9 – such an innovative and generous company! I was surprised that I only had one Christmas set by them – an older set – the Christmas Cottage set.

There’s an amazing selection of tags but I was particularly inspired by a tag by one of my favourite cardmakers – Jessica Frost-Ballas. I actually ended up making two very similar tags with the same supplies…. I think I prefer the first one I created with lots of trees… which one do you like?

Day 1 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2018

Hi everyone!

Last year, I played along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags for the first time. I was so happy to complete 25 tags during November 2017 and it made a HUGE difference to my Christmas preparations…. and stress levels!

I’m so happy to see the event is back again this year! Once again, each day has a sponsor and I am going to try to use products from each sponsor wherever I can.

Simon Says Stamp was the sponsor for Day 1 and once again the inspiration tags were amazing. In the end, I chose to combine the tags made by Lorraine Aquilina and Lin Brandyberry. All dies and stamps are by Simon Says Stamp.

Beware of the Cat!

Happy Halloween friends!

You know, I have far too many Halloween supplies…. dies, stamps, embellishments…. and they are so much fun to play with! So, I banned myself from buying new Halloween supplies this year. Well, that came to an abrupt end when I saw Picket Fence Studio’s ‘Wicked Together’ set. Such fun images and sentiments… I HAD to have it!

For this CAS one layer card, I used my favourite two stamps from the set. I masked off a circle and blended some bright distress inks. I then fiddled with the sentiment FOR AGES until I got a positioning that I was vaguely happy with! Thank goodness for my MISTI, here!

Finally I stamped the fun cat in the circle and while I was tempted to add some glitter or bling, I decided that less could be more this time!

I’m entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge – take flight.

Have a great day all!

City Haunts

Hello there!

The theme for the October Memory Box challenge is Halloween or candy. This was very tricky for me as I have a ton of Halloween dies by Poppystamps but very few by Memory Box, so I knew my entry would need some out of the box thinking!

In the end, I decided to use the Cityscape Nightline die to create a city Halloween scene. After cutting the skyline, I added a slope and fence cut using dies from the Wide Open Spaces set. I adhered the dies cuts to a background I created from yellow/orange distress inks. I’ve been making a lot of purple cards recently so wanted to do something quite different this time!

The next challenge was the ghosts. I don’t have any small ghost dies…. So I repurposed the Bitty Blooms set and added eyes/mouths to the upturned blooms!

To finish off the card, I added a few die cut pumpkins from the older Perfect Pumpkins set and added a Poppystamps sentiment to finish off the card.

I’m entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge – take flight.
