Ghost Kitty Wishes

Hi there!

After  very hot weekend, I was finally able to craft in the late afternoon – sneaking in here just in time with my entry this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

I stamped and embossed the cute kitty ghost from the Ghostly Greetings (30-594) set and added a touch of shimmer using my Twinkling H2O paints – so difficult to capture in a photo! I then used masking paper to mask him and a small circle before creating a Halloween sky with my distress oxide. I really wanted to create a luminescence around the moon and kitty image so I used a VERY  light hand. This took a while to get right – I felt my first attempt (below) was a bit heavy!

I couldn’t believe that I don’t seem to have a Halloween strip sentiment in any of my Penny Black sets!! But that’s not a problem, because I have a few of the versatile  ‘builder’ stamp sets and I was able to create this sentiment from the Happy Builder mini stamp set (30-973).

My first attempt at this card – using a sentiment from the Sugared mini set (30-723):

Hello Dearhearts

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at Just Add Ink challenge using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

I love seeing what other cardmakers create with cute critter stamps but I rarely use them myself nowadays. But when I saw the cute cows in Penny Black’s Sending Smiles release, I knew I wanted to create with them! They remind me of Ermintrude from the Magic Roundabout…. I think it was the flower in the mouth and the shape of their cute little faces!

Anyway, the In the Moooo’d mini stamp set (30-986) and the Cow are You set (30-988) have been on my desk for a while and today I finally got to ink them up!

I fussy cut each cow and coloured them with my Twinkling H2O paints. I then created circular frames using a die from the Stitched Circles set (51-551) and adhered them to a couple of coloured circles. I die cut an ink-blended background from the Stitches of Love (51-597) and then adhered all my images to my card base, following the challenge sketch. I would have loved to have used Ermintrude’s signature phrase ‘Hello, Dearheart’ but I think that the sentiment from the Cow Are You set works very well!

Corner Butterflies

Happy Saturday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I originally planned to use a leafy corner die for my take on the challenge – but then I decided to go with a couple of Memory Box butterflies instead! I used the Drifting Side Butterfly and the smaller Flitter Side Butterfly cut from Craft Consortium paper and white glitter card. I lightly applied Salvaged Patina distress ink to ground the butterflies but felt the card still need a little something so I embossed the background using the Spellbinders Flower Frenzy embossing folder.

The sentiment is by Concord & 9th.

Christmas Card Throwdown – Guest Spot

Hello everyone!

I’m honoured to be the Guest Designer for the current sketch challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown!

I was originally planning to use a stamped image for this card, but then I decided that the background would make the perfect backdrop for a little scene with an ombre sky!

I used Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean distress inks for the sky and added lots of glitter for the snow. For the image, I cut the Marvellous Pine die by Memory Box from regular white and white glitter card.  After colouring the regular white die cut with distress inks, I adhered it on top of the white glitter tree, slightly offsetting it to give the illusion of snow. To complete the image, I added a little die cut bird.

The sentiment is from a Penny Black set.

The Design Team have some amazing inspiration over on the challenge blog – you must check it out! Hope you can play along with the challenge!

Christmas in July 2023 – Day 20

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 20 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2023!

Today I wanted to play with my Poppystamps Holiday Mistletoe die. I thought I hadn’t used it since the Nightmare White on White Experience of 2020 but looking through my archives, I did actually use it in 2021 – how typical that I only remember the nightmare!

Anyway, today I cut it from some Craft Consortium ink drops paper and then coloured the stems brown with distress ink. I cut the berries from different paper and stuck them on top. I blended some Picked Raspberry and Crackling Campfire distress ink very lightly to create a central panel for my little arrangement. Once I adhered the stems in place, I added a Spellbinders bow and a sentiment also by Poppystamps.

Christmas in July 2023 – Day 18

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 18 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2023!

Who remembers Quickutz? And Archivers? Remember their amazing collaborations? I remember getting them on Ebay and then being so excited to pick them up in person when I started going to Chicago for work. It was a bit of a trek to Archivers but always so worth it!

Today I’m playing with a die set from 2008. How can that be FIFTEEN YEARS AGO?! I was so excited to get this set! And I got coordinating paper as well – I’m sure I still have some of that left in my Chistmas box!

The sentiment is by My Favorite Things.
