Technique – ink blending

Featuring ink blending

Fun Halloween Spirit

Hi Everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the current sketch challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches (which I rotated) as well as the current Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge where the theme is ‘spooky’.

I fell for this little ghost from Picket Fence Studios when it was released last year, but I couldn’t find it in an UK stores. When I saw it in the Dies to Die For shop a few weeks ago, I had to snap it up, even though I try to ration myself when it comes to buying Halloween supplies!

I created a fun blended background using distress oxide inks and then embossed a sentiment from My Favorite Things. I coloured and fussy cut the ghost and then added a generous layer of Pixie Dust over him! Look at that shimmer!

Hi, Hi Butterfly!

Hello friends!

Today, I’m playing along with the current Color Throwdown Challenge which has a lovely colour combo – grey, lavender and black.

I created a background panel using watercolours and Distress Oxide ink. I must confess I spent far longer on this than I should have. I couldn’t quite get a colour mix that I felt was representative of the combo. Eventually I was satisfied and cut the panel with the beautiful Lil Inker Designs Butterfly Cover Up die. I adhered the die cut to a black card base and inlaid some glitter card. Finally I added a sentiment, also by Lil Inker, to complete my take.

Inkspiration

Happy Friyay friends!

Today I’m playing along with the Inspirational challenge – what an inspirational photo challenge!

I’d been planning what to make since I saw the image last weekend but the week has been crazy and I had to make my entry quite quickly this evening to meet the challenge deadline.

I’m not sure I did it justice… it didn’t really turnout as I’d hoped….

Anyway, I used dies by Simon Says Stamp and Poppystamps and a Hero Arts sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!

Wicked together

Hi there!

Once again i’s time for a new challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using just one corner and we have a fabulous seasonal colour palette as our optional twist. Our sponsor is Stamplorations.

I kept it pretty simple again. I stamped and embossed an image from the Picket Fence Studios ‘Wicked Together’ set and then blended some Carved Pumpkin distress ink into the centre of the pumpkin. I masked off the centre of the pumpkin and blended Twisted Citron to create a vibrant background.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined by the lovely Sandie – who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

Thanks for stopping by!

Deer Family

Hello!

I’m here with my last Crafts-U-Love DT post . It’s been a fun 15 months or so! Plus, I got to support one of the few bricks and mortar stores that I know of. I love internet shopping, but nothing beats seeing product in real life, does it. I love visiting craft stores when I can and it makes me sad to think that when I started crafting over a decade ago, there were four amazing stores within an hours’ drive of me. Only one, Crafts-U-Love, remains nowadays….

Anyway, as you may recall, this month, I received a couple of products by Marianne Design, the Tiny’s Deer Family die set* and the Classic Label die* . You can see what I made for my first post this month here.

I started by using the label die to create a grey die-cut panel. I simply ensured that my cutting plates weren’t aligned so that I only cut through part of the label die. I then lined up the die and cut part of it a second time from the opposite end of my grey cardstock to create a rectangular panel with that gorgeous die cut section on two sides. I brushed the edges with Distress Oxide Milled Lavender ink – difficult to see in my photos, but I promise you, it’s much easier to see in real life!

I then cut the little deer family from white cardstock and coloured them with various distress inks.

I stuck the deer to my rectangular base, adhered it to a card base and stamped a sentiment from the Julie Hickey Designs Essential Christmas Sentiments set  to finish off my card.

Seasonal Stag

Hello!

I’m here with my penultimate Crafts-U-Love DT post .

This month, I received a couple of products by Marianne Design, the Tiny’s Deer Family die set* and the Classic Label die* .

I started by cutting the label die and largest deer from white cardstock which I then coloured with various distress inks.

I adhered the deer to my tag base and stamped a sentiment from the Julie Hickey Designs Essential Christmas Sentiments set.

I then tried the tag against a white background, but felt the background needed a little added interest.

I toyed with doing some stencilling or dry embossing but in the end I decided to use some off-white paper by The Paper Boutique. The pack I used was sent to me for a past DT post; it’s no longer in stock at Crafts-U-Love, but the Christmas Visitor pack and the Happy Days pack have similar colours. After trimming the paper to size, I stamped a few little stars from another Julie Hickey Designs set.

To finish off the tag, I added some stiffened ribbon which I curled by twisting it around a paint brush before adhering the tag to my card base using foam pads.
