Technique – ink blending

Featuring ink blending

You’re sealiously amazing

Hello  everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the CAS challenge at The Paper Players.

The theme is wildlife – I have a LOT of older Hero Arts animal colour layering stamps that would have been perfect for this challenge but I kept thinking of this beautiful Simply Graphic seal die so I HAD to use it! I paired it with an Ellen Hutson background die and slipped an ink blended background behind it.

To complete my take, I added a sentiment by Reverse Confetti and a few die cut stars.

February 2022 Get Cracking on Christmas

Hello everyone!

It still feels rather early to be making Christmas cards, but I really want to play along with Jenn Shurkus’s ‘Get Cracking on Christmas’ every month this year. So, using the colour palette from this week’s CAS Colours and Sketches challenge, I pulled out some festive supplies and got to work.

As the palette is a traditional festive combo, I decided to use the beautiful Memory Box Flowering Tree – I last used it during Christmas in July 2021 when I was working with a non-festive combo!  I used alcohol markers on the tree and adhered it to an ink blended panel. I trimmed down a vase from the new-to-me Waffle Flower Crafts vases die set and added a sentiment by Mama Elephant.

Winter birch

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge using Penny Black products.

First I stamped a tree from the Woodsy cling set (40-812), masked off the trunk and a strip towards the bottom of my card and blended some blue distress ink across the background and added a little green ink to the base. I removed the masks and used a watercolour pen to add some sparkle to the white section. Unfortunately, the sparkle didn’t photograph at all so I has to go back and add a little texture to the snow using a light grey coloured pencil. I added a sentiment from the When Snow Falls set (30-881) and lots of stickles to the tree – this card is very sparkly in real life!

I felt the card needed a little extra so I added a few birds from the Harmony With Nature die set (51-707) to complete my card.

Mailing Bunches of love

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches using a brand new Penny Black stamp set called Bunches of Love (30-890) and its coordinating die set (51-726).

To start with, I created an ink blended panel and lifted some ink using water. I coloured the beautiful envelope image with my Twinkling H2O paints and then cut round it with the coodinating die. I adhered the image over the panel and then added the sentiment from the stamp set and a few small sequins to complete my card.

Neighbourhood Houses

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. When I first saw the sketch, I thought about using hearts or butterflies but then yesterday my new Dies to Die For order arrived and I knew it was the perfect opportunity for me to use my brand new My Neighborhood die set from My Favorite Things.

I coloured the images with distress ink and added Clearly Besotted sentiment. I thought it was finished, but when I was photographing the card, it felt a little bare so I added a few die cut hearts and sequins. Maybe a few too many? I’m not too sure… what do you think?
