Technique – heat embossing

Featuring heat embossing

Wicked together

Hi there!

Once again i’s time for a new challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using just one corner and we have a fabulous seasonal colour palette as our optional twist. Our sponsor is Stamplorations.

I kept it pretty simple again. I stamped and embossed an image from the Picket Fence Studios ‘Wicked Together’ set and then blended some Carved Pumpkin distress ink into the centre of the pumpkin. I masked off the centre of the pumpkin and blended Twisted Citron to create a vibrant background.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined by the lovely Sandie – who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

Anemone Cluster

Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m playing along with this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge

I used the pretty Anemone Cluster from The Ton – which I coloured with Daniel Smith watercolours. I embossed an oval die onto a piece of kraft cardstock. I’m still having trouble embossing dies using my Gemini Junior, I just can’t find a go-to cutting plate combo for my dies. Quite frustrating at times!

Anyway, to complete my card, I heat embossed a sentiment by Clearly Besotted.

Autumnal cottage scene

Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m playing along with this week’s sketch challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches.

I love this unusual sketch and was originally going to use a few die cut trees but as I was looking for the tree die, I stumbled across the Poppystamps Boddington Cottage die. I thought I could make it work with the sketch and got to work!

I didn’t do too much inlaid die cutting this time – just the cottage. For the trees, I coloured some card using my Daniel Smith Watercolours and then stuck my die cut on top before adhering the image to the card base.

The embossed sentiment is from the September 2018 Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit.

I’m also entering this into the current Poppystamps challenge – Anything Goes.

Thank for stopping by!

Seasonal village

Hello!

I’m here with my second Crafts-U-Love DT post for September.

This month, I received a couple of products by Studio Light, the Essentials Clear Stamp Set – No.393* and the A6 Paper Pad – No.121* plus the Eleganza Craft 4 mm Glitter Gems – Silver*  which I’ve used to create today’s card.

I started by stamping the main image three times in different colours of Distress Oxide ink and fussy cutting the little houses (super easy images to fussy cut!). I trimmed down a piece of the Studio Light paper so that the large star would be at the top of my card.

After trimming the bottom of the paper panel, I used a post-it note to sponge some distress ink across the foreground. Then I arranged all the little houses across the card.

Finally I added a sentiment from the Julie Hickey poinsettia set* and added some gems and then some Stickles over the ink blending.

Thanks for stopping by!

Color Throwdown Guest Designer Week 4

Hello everyone!

I’m so sad that this is my last post as the August Guest Designer over at one of my favourite challenges, the Color Throwdown. I’ve had a brilliant time – thanks to the DT who have been so kind!

We have another pretty, summery palette again this week – orange, pink, yellow and green. Well with those colours, I just had to choose flowers again! This time, I used a most-neglected stamp (Morning Glory border) from The Ton Stamps which I embossed and then coloured with my Altenew watercolours.

I edged the flowers in a green/yellow combo, but I didn’t feel that the yellow was vibrant enough so decided to cut my Avery Elle die cut sentiment from yellow card rather than a neutral colour that I’d originally planned.

For full details of how to enter this week’s challenge, please head over to the Color Throwdown challenge blog. As usual, the design team has some amazing inspiration:

Winter Wonderland

Hello!

I’m here with my first Crafts-U-Love DT post for September.

This month, I received a couple of products by Studio Light, the Essentials Clear Stamp Set – No.393* and the A6 Paper Pad – No.121* plus the Eleganza Craft 4 mm Glitter Gems – Silver* .

Unfortunately, only the clear stamp is in stock right now, so I have just used that one for my card this time. If you are wondering about the paper pad, I thought that it was great value for money – some fabulously festive designs and the perfect size for A6 cards – no trimming needed! The glitter gems remind me very much of Nuvo glitter drops – but of course no worrying about getting the drops the same size.. or waiting for them to dry! Two really useful products with a great price point!

I kept things simple with my card as the image contains a sentiment already so it would be perfect for using for any batch cards you needed. I embossed the image using white embossing powder and then simply blended distress ink (Antique Linen, Dried Marigold, Victorian Velvet and Seedless Preserves) over it. I used a microfibre cloth to remove ink from the image before splattering some water on top of the scene and blotting the ink dry.

There are some festive fabulous images in this line from Studio Light. I particularly like this Tree and the Reindeer!
