Technique – dry embossing

Featuring dry embossing

Sweet Mr Snowman

Hi there!

Just popping in quickly to share my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. There are three overlapping circles this week – how could that not be a snowman?!

I used the Honey Bee Stamps Build a Snowman die set, together with some older patterned paper and a Nellie Snellen embossing folder for my entry.

The sentiment is by Pretty Pink Posh.

Christmas Card Throwdown – Deck the Halls

Hello everyone!

Next up today is my entry for the current sketch challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black!

First I must say I LOVE this sketch and have so many ideas – you may see it appear again in future!!

Anyway, for this card, I chose an ornament from the pretty Sparkle & Shine clear set (31-001) and coloured it with my Twinkling H2O paints. After die cutting the image, I added a light blend of distress ink around the edges.

I used the Dashed Design embossing folder (65-001) on some coloured card and adhered it to my card base before lightly dusting with distress ink and splattering some gold paint. I wanted a bit more gold so added some thread before adhering the die circle on top. Finally, I tucked a strip of patterned paper behind the circle and added a sentiment from the same stamp set.

Duet

Hi everyone!

For my second card of the day, I’m playing along with the ‘double’ challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black. This challenge combines colours AND a sketch… and can be quite tricky… but hey, that’s why they are called challenges, isn’t it?

For my card, I used the beautiful Duet die (51-736) and Airy die (51-423). I coloured them using regular distress inks and distress oxides and added them to part of a die cut circle.

I adhered the die cut cluster to a panel that I had embossed with the Variegated folder (65-008) and added a bow and sentiment from the Trust Me builder set (30-710) to complete my card.

(The challenge allows subtle texture as long as it doesn’t detract from the main focal point. I think my bold flowers stand out – hopefully the challenge DT agrees that this falls within their guidelines!)

Peaceful Perching

Hi there!

I finally had a clear day to craft today – and I am very relieved that my mojo didn’t go AWOL like it usually does when I have a crafty day planned!! First up is the card I made for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

I was very excited to see that Penny Black had launched two new product lines as part of their Sparkle and Shine release – embossing folders and a foiling solution called Stick and Shine. I couldn’t wait to try them!!

For today’s card, I used the Stick and Shine products for the first time and I have to say they are VERY user-friendly – I added that foiled sentiment very quickly with no mishaps whatsoever! I don’t have a foiling machine and I am so pleased that Penny Black has a solution that is super easy and will be kind to my bank account too! The sentiment is from the Xmas Classics set (15-004) which I applied with the dedicated applicator (12-001). The foil is from the Metallics set (21-001).

I cut the panel with a die from the Dainty Dashes set (51-636) and lightly blended some distress ink. For the main image, I used the branches and birds from the Perching die set (51-789) and added a bird from the Nestlings set (51-755). I cut all the images from white card and used distress oxide and mica sprays to colour the branches; the birds were coloured with regular distress ink.

Finally I embossed a strip using the Geometric folder (75-007), adhered it and silver strip to my card base and added the main panel on top.

Fir tree branches

Happy Friyay everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the technique challenge at the 52 Christmas card challenge.

So when I tidied my craftroom after Christmas in July, I unearthed a stack of festive embossing folders that I picked up from Simon Says Stamp in an after Christmas sale. I was rather annoyed with myself for forgetting them – mind you in my defence, they were well hidden in my craft room!

Anyway, when I saw the challenge theme of embossing folder, I knew I had to play along. I used he Fir Tree Branches folder with some Nuvo embellishment mousse. The sentiment is by Creative Expressions.

Happy 600th Sketch!

Hello again everyone!

Today I am truly honoured to be celebrating an amazing milestone with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge team and a group of super talented players! Today is challenge number 600!

I enjoy playing along with card challenges and Freshly Made Sketches is one challenge that I always try to play along with whenever I can. I love how different the sketches are and the DT and other players’ cards are always soooo inspiring!

I discovered the challenge in 2016 – I was just on instagram back then but I’m pretty sure that this was the card I made for my first challenge entry – challenge number 261! (I actually unearthed this after I made my card for this week – it made me smile to see that my entry back then also had a dry-embossed strip!)

For today’s fabulous sketch, I chose the Floral Cluster die by Poppystamps which I coloured with distress inks. After adhering it to a die cut circle, I embossed a grey strip with a Simon Says Stamp folder, added a sentiment by My Favorite Things and a few die cut butterflies by Poppystamps and Simon Says Stamp.
