Technique – dry embossing

Featuring dry embossing

A gliding fly by!

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge using some products that arrived this week in my order from Simon Says Stamp.

The combo this week is orange, pale blue and cream – another set that’s perfect for autumnal cards and I loved the inspiration photo so much – I was VERY tempted to pull out my pumpkin dies! But my keenness to use some of my new purchases won instead!

I love the Simon Says Stamp Gliding Butterflies embossing folder and stamp set as soon as I saw it in this year’s Stamptember release! I rarely pay full price for embossing folders but this one is too special and I’m to impatient to wait for a sale. I coloured the butterflies with Altenew and distress inks and thought about using some foundry wax like Nichol Spohr did with her AMAZING inspiration canvas. But I decided against it in the end because I need more practice with that medium!

As I wanted to use a lot of butterflies, I chose a slimline cardbase and applied a few sprays of Unravelled distress mic spray. The shimmer is amazing!!

I stamped a sentiment from the Thinking of You set (30-825) that Penny Black kindly sent me before adhering the butterflies to my card base.

Butterfly smiles across the miles

Hello everyone!

I’ve created a card for two of my favourite challenges today – Freshly Made Sketches and the Color Throwdown challenge which has a combo of green, orange and blue.

Lots of different techniques and manufacturers for this one! A background panel embossed with a Simon Says Stamp folder, Craft Consortium paper cut with the Altenew Fine Frames Circles die and Memory Box’s Beloved Snowflakes die, an ink blended butterfly created with my favourite Memory Box butterfly (Vine Butterfly) and finally a Mama Elephant sentiment. It didn’t take too long to create as each of the techniques is pretty quick!

Big Boo

Hi there!

It’s that time of year when I’m torn between creating autumn and Halloween cards. I have so many beautiful supplies and I always feel I never use them enough! Today was the turn of Halloween with some products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

To start, I created a blended background using a number of distress inks (Black Soot, Hickory Smoke, Peeled Paint and Crushed Olive). I then embossed it with the Dashed Design embossing folder (65-001). I then cut the Big Boo die (51-794) from orange glitter paper plus a few pieces of white cardstock and stuck them all together to add dimension to the die cut. I used tape on the top layer as I knew I would want to lift parts of the orange die cut up later.

I then stamped, fussy cut and coloured three cute images from the Ghostly Greetings (30-594) set using my Twinkling H2O paints and distress ink (for the bat).

I adhered the BOO to may card and then tucked the image under the orange layer, using foam tape to hold them in place.

Although this was all I had planned for the card, I felt it still needed something more so I used the versatile Happy Builder mini stamp set (30-973) to create a stamped sentiment.

Merry Little Christmas wishes

Happy Friyay everyone!

Have you noticed that Fridays are becoming quite festive on my blog? I seem to be entering the Christmas Card Throwdown quite late each week! This week that was because I had no time for crafting until this evening AFTER I’d cleared up the craftermath from last Saturday! Anyway, I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at the 52 Christmas card challenge.

I lightly blended Weathered Wood and Speckled Egg distress inks across the lower part of a white panel which I then embossed using the Simon Says Stamp Refracted embossing folder. After adhering that to my card base, I added three little Charlie und Pauchen die cut trees.

The sentiment is by Mama Elephant.

Stencilled embossed trees

Happy Friyay everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the technique challenge at the 52 Christmas card challenge.

I ended up using my new Nellie Snellen Christmas Tree stencil with the coordinating embossing folder. I used the stencil with distress inks to highlight a few trees.

The sentiment is by Memory Box.

Harvest love

Hello friends!

Today I’m playing along with the current sketch challenge over at The Paper Players using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

First I cut and embossed the four background strips with the Variegated embossing folder (65-008) and then turned my attention to my focal point. I chose the largest pumpkin and foliage from the Pumpkin Parade die set and used them to cut some old inky panels. After adhering the die cuts to my card base I added a sentiment from the new clear stamp set called Autumn Boots (31-013).
