Christmas Card Throwdown – December Guest Spot

Hello everyone!

I’m honoured to be the Guest Designer for the current colour challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown!

I started with a piece of lilac cardstock and blended Villainous Potion distress ink around the edges and in towards the centre. I then embossed it using Penny Black’s Blizzard embossing folder.

I cut gold glitter and pearlescent card with the fabulous Pointed Evergreens die by Simon Says Stamp and layered the glitter trees on top of the pearlescent image, slightly offsetting the image. I adhered the trees to my card base and then added a small purple panel that I’d covered with rainbow embossing powder as I didn’t have the right shade of purple glitter card. I had wanted to use Distress Sparkle Texture Paste which I really like but it took a LONG time to dry completely and so I had to find an alternative.

The sentiment is from a My Favourite Stamps set.

The Design Team have some amazing inspiration over on the challenge blog – you must check it out! Hope you can play along with the challenge!

Tis the Season

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the current challenge at Freshly Made Sketches using products kindly sent to me by Penny Black.

As soon as I saw the tree in the new Berry Basket die set (51-796), I thought the images from the Decorated die (51-661) would look so cute hanging from the branches! I couldn’t wait to try it out today! Some of the images were a little too big and so I used the Bauble Border die (51-150) to supplement the images. I coloured all images apart from the candy canes with distress inks (I used pencil on the canes) and used a gold deco pen for the hangers.

Following the sketch, I inked a strip using Speckled Egg distress ink across a card base and a smaller piece of white card which I then embossed with the brand new Blizzard folder (65-013). After adhering the embossed card and the die cuts to my card base, I added a sentiment from the Holiday Snippets set (30-307).

Iconic Winter Countryside

Happy Festive Friyay everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the theme challenge at the 52 Christmas card challenge.

The theme is ‘Winter Countryside’ but instead of reaching for my dies, I pulled out the Iconic Christmas stamp and die set from My Favorite Things. I bought this as soon as it was released a few years ago, but for some reason I don’t think I ever inked it up. Today was the day!

I adhered my little winter scene to a base that I had embossed with my newish Nellie Snellen Christmas Tree embossing folder and added a sentiment by Mama Elephant.

Swirly tree

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

I was short on time this evening so I opted for a very quick make using a fabulous swirly tree die (by Dixi Craft) and a Penny Black embossing folder.

Originally I had just planned to use the tree and the green embossed strip but when I tried that I felt the tree needed more of an anchor, So, I added a second strip of matt mirror card and also a piece of glitter card to act as a trunk/pot.

To complete my card, I added a Penny Black sentiment.

Layered Gliding Butterfly

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

So many lovely layers with this sketch – a fab challenge for me this week as I wanted to do something different for all those layers but also ensure nothing detracted from the focal point.

To start, I embossed some vellum with the Simon Says Stamp Blooming Field embossing folder. I then die cut a Marianne Designs background image and positioned it on top of the vellum. Finally I added a butterfly from the amazing Gliding Butterflies embossing folder and die set. To complete my card, I added a few gems.

Colourful Autumn Greetings

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge which has a combo of pink, mustard, rust and green – beautiful!

I decided that today was finally the day to break into my Altenew Leaf Mix die set. I fell in love with these dies when they were released back in the decade that was 2020. I couldn’t get hold of them until the following year, and then two autumns went by and the poor pretty set sat hidden and ignored in my ‘New Stuff’ box.

I created a few inky panels using my new Distress Mica Stains. I don’t have a pink spray (yet), but fortunately had a pink Nuvo shimmer spray which I managed to locate! I cut the panels with various dies from the set and arranged them on my card base. I felt that I needed something more so used a Spellbinders folder to dry emboss the background.

After adhering the leaves, I added a sentiment from an older Hero Arts set to complete my card.
