Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Dazzling Warm Wishes

Happy Sunday everyone!

I’m so happy to play along with one of my favourite colour challenges – the Color Throwdown which has a fab combo of black, white, grey and magenta.

Although I really wanted to make a card with a magenta bird after seeing the challenge graphic, instead I reached for the beautiful Birch Press Design Dazzle layer set – I love how quickly a card comes together with these layer die sets! They are so much fun to use! After adhering all the die-cut layers together, I embossed a sentiment from an older Simon Says Stamp/Darkroom Door collaboration set and adhered all the layers on top.

Wispy Trio

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

Last year I mentioned that I had coveted Birch Press Design’s Wispy Blooms Contour Layers die set from the moment I first saw it! Of course I used it a couple of times and then neglected it! But this week I was reminded of this card and even though I should be concentrating on winter cards to send out, I just HAD to play with it again.

After playing around with distress ink and water colour paints, I chose to use flowers cut from coloured paper. I paired them with a beautiful Simon Says Stamp embossing folder and added a Pretty Pink Posh sentiment to complete my card.

Wrens say hello

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!

And also, welcome to Lucieg’s Adventures with a Light Tent! Today, I played around with the white balance on my DSLR and also the backdrops. I’m happier with the photos I took today, but I think I still have a way to go…. it will be a process.

Anyway, on to my card…. today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches AND using up a few unused new purchases from 2022!

Last year, I bought the beautiful Robin and Wren layered stamp set by The Greetery – which I planned to use a lot in the run up to Christmas, but life got in the way! However, I finally got to play with the set between Christmas and the New Year – I’m so grateful that Betsy, The Greetery’s owner, shared some tips about how to set up the images – once they were all set up in my Misti, I could just play with various different colour combos. So. Much. Fun!

I chose a couple of the birds for my take on the sketch plus some die cut Greetery Nordic Circles and a fun Honey Bee branch. I adhered all my die cuts to a panel that I had embossed with the Simon Says Stamp Delicate Pine folder and added a Sugar Pea Designs sentiment to complete my card.

Warmest wishes flourish

Happy New Year’s Eve everyone!

As I get back into a cardmaking routine, I knew I wanted to make time to play along with the 500th challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches. Congrats to the team for such an amazing milestone – and thank you to the various DT members for a decade of inspiration, encouragement and support!

We could choose any past challenge and add a seasonal twist. So, I made a wintery card with the sketch from Challenge Number 497!

First of all, I applied some distress collage medium to my card base and then added several different glitters. While that dried, I cut the beautiful Elegant Snowflake Flourish die by Memory Box from glitter card and white card and stuck the layers together. Once the glitter background was dry, I adhered the die cut to my card base and added a sentiment by My Favorite Things.

Day 6 – 6 Days of Christmas Tags 2022

Hi everyone!

As Tracey McNeely isn’t running her 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year, I have created my own event using 25 days from Tracey’s event posts over the last decade, as I explained in this post. Unfortunately I only had time to make six tags this year.

Day 6’s inspiration is Day 23, 2016.

For my take on the wreath tag, I used some die sets kindly sent to me by Penny Black – the Jumbo Bauble set (51-743), part of the big holly stem in the Holly-Days set (51-741), and sprigs from Stocking Stuffers (51-747) and Joy of Giving (51-748). The sentiment is from the Merry Edger set (51-745).

Day 5 – 6 Days of Christmas Tags 2022

Hi everyone!

As Tracey McNeely isn’t running her 25 Days of Christmas Tags event this year, I have created my own event using 25 days from Tracey’s event posts over the last decade, as I explained in this post. Unfortunately I only had time to make six tags this year.

Day 5’s inspiration is Day 17, 2018. Click here to see the tag I made then!

I had so much fun with this tag! I chose a circle die from Simon Says Stamp and images by Mama Elephant.
