Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Sending you some happy

Happy Monday everyone!

It’s the first of three public holidays in the UK this month and I took advantage of the extra time at my craft table to play along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I’m so delighted that one of my go-to craft stores here in the UK has just started stocking Paper Rose Studio products! I snapped up some goodies straightaway! For this card I used the beautiful Poppy Field Circle die set, which I adhered to a piece of Craft Consortium patterned paper.

Following the sketch, I added a Spellbinders bow die cut and a sentiment by Concord & 9th.

Bestest Bird Trio

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown which has a really interesting combo of blush, dusty rose and white.

I loved this combo as soon as I saw it, but I found it soooo challenging to recreate. I’m really grateful that Wanda from the Design Team shared the distress inks that she used – that was really helpful to me.

I just received a big crafty order so I knew I wanted to use the cute Sizzix/Olivia Rose Painted Birds die set. I also bought a few Craft Consortium paper pads – they have a line that replicates alcohol inked panels and as I don’t use alcohol inks, I thought I’d give them a go! It took me a while to find a colour combo that I felt happy with – but now that I have photographed it, the blush looks more on the purple side…..

So I created another version, this time with birds cut from panels created with Milled Lavender and Tattered Rose distress inks. And now the Tattered Rose looks more on the peach side…. Argh! Who would have thought that a combo that I LOVED on first sight could prove so challenging to create with my crafty supplies?!

Anyway, the background die is Honey Bee Stamps’ Delicate Daisy Cover plate and the sentiment is by Mama Elephant.

Daisy Springtime Wishes

Happy Monday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown which has another springtime combo of celery green, yellow and aqua.

I used used Shabby Shutters distress oxide ink to create the celery background panel and then The Greetery’s Daisy Chain die. I coloured the daisies with coloured pencils  and added a sentiment by Memory Box.

Springtime Pail

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. What a fabulous sketch to play with this week!

I bought the Taylored Expressions Antique Pails die set over Easter and I thought the large pail would work perfectly with the sketch. I paired it with the Honeysuckle Plant by paper Rose Studio and the Stamp Market’s Ready to Bloom floral die.

The sentiment is by Memory Box.

Floral Twirl and Greenery

Happy Saturday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown which has a clean springtime combo of dark green, yellow, mint and white.

I used products kindly sent to me by Penny Black for this card. I have been trying to use the beautiful Floral Twirl die (51-768) again and today was the day, along with the beautiful Airy die (51-423) and a stem from the Garden Greens set (51-652). All the dies were coloured with distress oxide inks and I added detail with coloured pencil plus some stickles!

The sentiment is from the ever so versatile Snippets set (30-283).
