Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Christmas in July 2025 – Day 27

Hi there!

It’s Day 27 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2025!

Back to the older Memory Box tree dies today! This one is called Sparkling Tile Tree and is from 2014.

I’ve always struggled with this die because it isn’t a traditional standalone die and cuts into the background. I’m sure there’s a special word for that type of die but I can’t think of it right now…. Anyway, today I created an ombre background with various inks and then adhered it behind each of the die cut trees.

I added some glitter card to one card and gems to the other.

The sentiments are by My Favorite Things.

Christmas in July 2025 – Day 26

Hi there!

It’s Day 26 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2025!

I’m slowly building my Pinkfresh Studio collection and when I saw the Winter Berries product suite, I HAD to have it! It’s retired so it took me a while to track it down, but I’m glad I did – it is a joy to colour!

Today, I arranged all the die cut berry branches in a pail from the Taylored Expressions Antique Pails set and adhered everything to a base layer that I had embossed with a Nellie Snellen folder.

Christmas in July 2025 – Day 25

Happy Festive Friday!

It’s Day 25 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2025!

Today I’m using one of my favourite Memory Box dies – the beautiful and delicate Flowering Christmas Tree! I was so shocked that I haven’t used this since 2022! I was excited to colour the tree with my small blending brushes which I didn’t have three years ago – it was much easier than the detail blending foam I used in the past. Plus the sticky mat helped the process – crafting is always evolving isn’t it? Even for those of use who aren’t into glimmer or press plates!

I often find it difficult to come up with new layouts for these trees – I don’t want a busy layout to detract from the delicate die cut but I want to add something. Today it was a simple strip of coloured card and then I added a Waffle Flower vase and old Paula Pascual sentiment plus lots of little gems!

Christmas in July 2025 – Day 24

Hi there!

It’s Day 24 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2025!

I’m combining old and new again today! I picked up Pinkfresh Studio’s pretty Folk Snowflake product suite late last year. I’m not sure when it was released. Maybe 2023? I particularly loved the three sentiments that came with the snowflake image – but typically I haven’t used them today! The stamped sentiment is from a rather older Hero Arts set.

For the background, I used Memory Box’s Silent Snowflake Frame die from 2017 and added a few flakes from2015’s Shimmering Snowflakes set.

Christmas in July 2025 – Day 23

Hi there!

It’s Day 23 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2025!

I still love my older Memory Box tree dies from 10+ years ago and decided that I needed to dedicate some time them again this month.

First up is the stunning Elyse Christmas tree. Isn’t it beautiful? I coloured some card with Speckled Egg distress ink for the tree – the second photo is more true to colour I think!

I mounted it to a couple of Spellbinders dies – The second layer was originally silver pearlescent card but I decided it was too heavy for the tree so switched to two white layers instead.

The sentiment is by Mama Elelphant.

Christmas in July 2025 – Day 22

Hi there!

It’s Day 22 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2025!

Today I’ve paired a frame from the older Simon Says Stamp Holiday Frames die set with some fabulous vintage baubles from The Greetery’s Curio Attic Ornaments die set. The baubles arecut from Craft Consortium paper but you would not believe how often I second guessed myself on the pearlescent card I used for the other elements of each bauble!!! I got there in the end though!
