Technique – die cutting

Heart Week 2025 – Day 4

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 3 of Heart Week 2025!

My heart card today is my entry for the challenges hosted by Simon Says Stamp this week. The theme of Monday’s challenge is ‘bright and cheerful’ and Wednesday’s challenge is  ‘love is in the air’. I think this card fits both! I’m also entering this into a brand new challenge called The Neglected Stuff Challenge. The main image in the card is a coverplate die from Simon Says Stamp called floating hearts. It’s dated 2014 and I think I picked it up in 2015 or 2016 when it was in their sale section. I really thought I had used this die before but I can’t find a card with it on my blog. Maybe I created something before I started this blog back in 2017. In any case, I think that we can all agree it is most definitely neglected, poor thing!

I cut it from some speciality paper by Tonic Studios and adhered it to a layer cut from thicker card. This was a bit fiddly so I think I would adhere the paper to the card first before die cutting if I were to do this again! Anyway, I used foam tape to adhere it to a panel cut from ombre glitter card (also by Tonic). Oh how I love this glitter card! It’s so pretty! I only wish the cardstock dimensions were smaller so I could get the full range of the ombre onto a cardbase. Maybe I should suggest that to Tonic!

I love the texture that the speciality paper has given the little hearts. I also added a few punched dots of glitter card here and there.

The sentiment is from a set by Waffle Flower Crafts.

Heart Week 2025 – Day 3

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 3 of Heart Week 2025!

A very quick CAS card from me today – it’s not that I didn’t have time to craft – rather that I didn’t have much room to craft – the craftermath on my table is crazy.

I used an older Impression Obsession die plus a wood-mounted sentiment stamp that I picked up a few years ago.

Heart Week 2025 – Day 2

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 2 of Heart Week 2025!

My heart card today is my entry for this week’s challenge at The Paper Players where the theme is ‘love is in the air’.

A little order from Simon Says Stamp arrived this morning and I could not wait to play with one item in particular – the Birch Press Design Block Print Hummingbird die set. I loved this as soon as I saw the release (isn’t is tail fab?). I couldn’t find any UK stockists for this release so Simons to the rescue!

I cut the dies from a few different papers and then adhered them together. I paired it with an older Simon Says Stamp die called Clipping Heart and added a few of the little punched hearts from yesterday’s card. The sentiment is from a Spellbinders set.

Embossed cherry blooms

Hello again!

I’m back with my entry for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge. What a lovely spring palette this week – blue, pink and yellow.

I picked up the beautiful Cherry Blossom embossing folder and die set from Simon Says Stamp last November and it seemed perfect for this challenge. What a joy it was to use – the embossing is so deep!!

I created three ink blended panels and die cut the blossom shapes from the pink and yellow panels before embossing them. I embossed the blue panel and adhered it to my card base before attaching the die cut blossoms and adding a little gold stickles.

The sentiment die and stamp are also by Simon Say Stamp.

Fringed Flowers

Hello everyone!

Just popping in quickly with my entry for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge!

I’m having problems with my connection at the moment and I don’t want to miss the challenge deadline so I will be back later to fill in the details!

Edited to add: Now that I’ve entered the challenge, I can upload a few more photos and share a bit more about my card!

Memory Box’s new release arrived at Bumbleberry’s last week and I could not wait to order a few die sets! The Fringed Flowers set really stood out to me – I love the irregularity of the flowers, I don’t think I’ve got anything else like them at all! I cut them from Craft Consortium paper but used some different centres as I wanted something that was a little irregular and the centres in the die set seemed too perfect to my eye! I adhered the flowers to some white vellum and then turned my attention to the card base.

I spotted a white heat-embossed image in my ‘unused’ box and decided to trim that down for the background centre panel. I think the stamp is an older Hero Arts image. I dotted glue to the vellum behind the fringed flowers and adhered it to my panel and card base.

Finally I added a few gems – but no sentiment because time was short. I may add a sentiment under the vellum panel when I send it out, we’ll see!
