Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Get well wishes

Hi everyone!

There’s a really strong colour combination for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge – red, black and white. My mind was whirring with so many possibilities for my take on this!!

In the end, I decided to use the sketch from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I cut a circle from a black panel and used my Nuvo aqua shimmer pen to add a bit of shimmer to the white background exposed by the circle. I used an older Memory Box die to cut some glittery red paper and attached this to my card. Finally I added a Clearly Besotted sentiment to finish it off.

Time out – glorious bird

Hi Everyone!

I’m back with my second card as guest designer for the current Time Out challenge. The theme of the challenge is to CASE a card created by the talented Beverley Brown. Here’s my second take on it! I used my distress inks to create a blended striped rainbow background and added a die cut from Sizzix. I finished off the card with a sentiment stamp from Ellen Hutson and a few sequins!

Do stop by the Time Out challenge blog and check out more inspiration from the fabulous design team! I hope you can play along too!

Starting to feel like Autumn

There’s definitely a touch of Autumn in the air! Leaves are beginning to fall and I think that the days are feeling a little shorter.

For today’s card, I used the current sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, but instead of 3 die cuts, I chose a Memory Box stem die with three seed heads. Hope this is OK for the challenge!

I created a background panel using some distress stains and then added a Concord & 9th sentiment to finish it off!

I’m also entering this into the current Memory Box challenge which has the theme ‘falling for fall’.

A colourful hi

Well ‘hi’ there everyone!

I thought I’d use another one of the backgrounds that I made during yesterday’s session playing with the Tim Holtz stamping platform. I embossed another Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous background stamp and then added some distress marker ink using the plastic bag smooshing technique.

I love this week’s sketch over at Case This Sketch and thought it would be really ‘easy’. Hmm…. not quite – you would not believe how many different die cuts/colour combos I tried with this background. In the end, I kept it very simple and it definitely works better than all my other options! Really loving those Altenew letters!

Dots and Stripes and a star for good measure!

Hi Everyone!

The theme for the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge is ‘dots and/or stripes’. I used a couple of Simon Stays Stamp dies and some remnants from rainbow backgrounds that I created a few weeks ago as part of Online Card Classes’ Rainbow Maker class. I just can’t decide whether I prefer it with or without a sentiment (also Simon’s). What do you think?

Time to Sparkle

Happy Saturday!

There is a gorgeous colour combo over at the Color Throwdown challenge this week. In fact I have made quite a few cards with it! Anyway, this is the one that I decided to enter for the challenge. I used some new-to-me dies from Simply Graphic together with a stamp from Poppystamps.

As I was assembling the card, I felt it needed something a little extra to ground the image and so I stencilled a bit of Cosmic Shimmer glitter paste to the background. Love how this sparkles without detracting too much from those gorgeous dies!

I’m also entering this card into the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge!
