Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Bubble Bauble

Happy Friyay everyone!

I’m so excited that my Simon Says Stamp order arrived very quickly this month! I couldn’t wait to start playing with my new Ornate Ornaments stamps!

I was totally inspired by this card by the super talented Gayatri and had to CASE it! I stamped the ornament several times and coloured them using my Prismacolor pencils. I still felt the card needed something a little ‘more’ so I added some orange dots. I covered some of the bubbles with Tonic Studios Nuvo Crystal Glaze and then finished off the card with a die cut sentiment also by Simon Says Stamp.

I’m entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge – anything goes.

Thanks for stopping by!

Day 1 – 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2018

Hi everyone!

Last year, I played along with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags for the first time. I was so happy to complete 25 tags during November 2017 and it made a HUGE difference to my Christmas preparations…. and stress levels!

I’m so happy to see the event is back again this year! Once again, each day has a sponsor and I am going to try to use products from each sponsor wherever I can.

Simon Says Stamp was the sponsor for Day 1 and once again the inspiration tags were amazing. In the end, I chose to combine the tags made by Lorraine Aquilina and Lin Brandyberry. All dies and stamps are by Simon Says Stamp.

Thanks for stopping by!

City Haunts

Hello there!

The theme for the October Memory Box challenge is Halloween or candy. This was very tricky for me as I have a ton of Halloween dies by Poppystamps but very few by Memory Box, so I knew my entry would need some out of the box thinking!

In the end, I decided to use the Cityscape Nightline die to create a city Halloween scene. After cutting the skyline, I added a slope and fence cut using dies from the Wide Open Spaces set. I adhered the dies cuts to a background I created from yellow/orange distress inks. I’ve been making a lot of purple cards recently so wanted to do something quite different this time!

The next challenge was the ghosts. I don’t have any small ghost dies…. So I repurposed the Bitty Blooms set and added eyes/mouths to the upturned blooms!

To finish off the card, I added a few die cut pumpkins from the older Perfect Pumpkins set and added a Poppystamps sentiment to finish off the card.

I’m entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge – take flight.

Feline Batty!

Hello everyone!

Just popping in with a quick card that I made for the October Poppystamps challenge where the theme is ‘falling leaves and scary things’.

I chose the latter – although the cute batty feline doesn’t actually look too scary, does he?!

After stamping, cutting and colouring the images, I adhered them onto my new Benedetti frame. Isn’t it a gorgeous die? I LOVE art deco and just had to have it as soon as I saw it… well I really wanted most of the new Art Deco release, but had to exercise some self-restraint!

Anyway, thanks for stopping by!

Celebrating Kindness

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge over at AAA Cards and this fortnight we are celebrating kindness. Stamplorations is our sponsor.

Before I talk about my card, I wanted to take a few moments to share a story which sums up what ‘kindness’ means to me…

Some time ago, I was sitting in the doctors’ waiting room. It was around 5.30 on a Friday night and I became aware of a phone conversation the receptionist was having. It was clear that the patient at the other end of the line had run out of vital meds and was unable to get to the surgery or pharmacy to collect a prescription. The receptionist made multiple calls but couldn’t find anyone to help before the surgery closed. In the end, she got the onsite pharmacy to make up the prescription and rang the patient to let her know that she would drop off the medication before going home.

That’s kindness to me. Someone going above and beyond to help someone else and not expecting anything at all in return.

Sometimes in this day and age, it’s easy to forget that these acts of kindness are actually all around us. But they are and it’s amazing how much a simple ‘thank you’ means to people like the receptionist who was just doing what she felt was right; she probably didn’t even label it at an ‘act of kindness’.

So today my card honours those humble, kind souls.

I stamped a PaperArtsy image and coloured it using my Twinkling H2O paints. I splattered some paint lightly around the image and then added the stamped sentiment together with the die cut ‘thanks’. To finish off the card, I added some extra shimmer to the flowers using my Nuvo Aqua Shimmer glitter gloss aquabrush.

My teammates have shared some gorgeous CAS cards on the AAA Cards blog, together with our sponsor Shery from Stamplorations and the talented Trina from Phamtastic Design as our Guest Designer. Trina is a regular player winner (!) in our challenges – she has some beautiful CAS creations and wait until you see what she has come up with for this challenge! Stunning!

Thanks for stopping by – I do hope you play along with us!

Happy Autumn owls

Hello everyone!

I’ve been wanting to ink up my Pretty Pink Posh Autumn Wreath stamps for a while now and today was the day!

I coloured the wreath with my Twinkling H2Os and then cut it with the coordinating die. I created a watermark-effect background by stamping some of the single images from the set onto my card base in Versamark ink.

I then cut a couple of the Poppystamps Whittle Owls and coloured them with distress oxide inks. To finish off the card, I added a die cut sentiment from Memory Box.

Thanks for stopping by!
