Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Fabulous Flowers

Hi everyone!

It’s the 15th of the month and after a bit of a break, I’m back with a card for the Crafts-U-Love Design Team.

This month I received two Julie Hickey stamp sets: Family Sentiments and Floral Fusion.

I pulled out my distress oxides and started stamping! Once I was happy with my background, I spritzed the card generously with water to activate the Oxides and cause the inks to bleed a little.

For the sentiment, I combined some words from Julie’s set and added a die from my collection (Creative Expressions Happy Birthday die – brilliant price point on these!).

Happy Love Day 2019

Sorry for the post overload friends – I have just been inspired to create Valentine’s cards this year!

Anyway, what would you do if you had a layover in Seattle? Head downtown or go to Impress Cards and Crafts? Yep, you’ve guessed it! When I had a layover at SeaTac last year, I hopped on a bus and took the short trip to Tukwila and spent a lovely couple of hours in Impress’s fabulous store there! So many craft goodies there! I bought this sweet heart die and Savvy Stamps sentiment stamp there! Making this CAS card today bought back a lot of happy memories from my little trip there!

Happy Valentine’s Day

Hello everyone!

Happy Valentine’s Day! As you know, I have been using my wood-mounted stamps throughout February and I hope to have created at least 28 cards using my wood-mounted stamps by the end of the month. But that doesn’t mean I’ve completely stopped playing with my new stamps! I bought this fabulous Avery Elle peacock just before Christmas. Perfect for today!

I coloured it using my Twinkling H2Os and also added a few die cut hearts which I’d coloured with the same paint.

I’m entering this in the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, plus the current Color Throwdown Challenge (black, dark pink and grey).

Let’s eat Cheesecake!

Hello friends!

Today I have a card made with an old wood-mounted stamp by Hampton Art. The bird is cute but to be honest I really wanted the sentiment! Words to live by I say!

Anyway, Once I stamped and coloured the bird, I repurposed a Poppystamps tree stamp to create the branches for this little bird to stand on!

True love stem

Hello there!

I didn’t craft as much as I would have liked today, but I did make this card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

Ever since my glitter pastes dried up, I’ve been trying out new glittery pastes and today I used the Cosmic Shimmer Ultra Sparkle paste for the first time. Oh my goodness! The shimmer is amazing! I will post a little video of it over on Instagram!

Anyway, back to the card. I created the central strip using the paste over the Falling Hearts stencil by Simon Says Stamp. While I was waiting for that to dry, I cut the Poppystamps True Love Stem die from a couple of distress ink backgrounds; I then trimmed off the hearts from the purple/grey die cut and adhered them to the green die cut.

I pondered where to place the sentiment until I saw that there was a ‘perfect’ natural opening in the stencilled background that would fit a sentiment from my new Reverse Confetti set! Really very relieved that I didn’t mess up that stamping!

You are so loved

Happy Saturday friends!

Today’s playing along with two of my favourite challenges – the Color Throwdown and the Memory Box monthly challenge.

The Color Throwdown’s palette this week is navy, grey and green and when I saw it, I knew I wanted to incorporate flowers or foliage in someway. In the end, I decided to use one of the very first dies my mum bought – the Memory Box Serafina Heart die. She’s been taking a break from crafting for a while and I’m ‘looking after’ some of her craft supplies until she gets back into it!

I added the die cut to a navy heart, also by Memory Box and added a few pearls for the flower centres. I then embossed a Hero Arts sentiment on a grey background panel before lightly stamping a My Favorite Things background stamp using versamark ink.

I stuck the heart to the base card with funky foam and added a few more mini pearls to finish off my card.
