Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Seasonal Stag

Hello!

I’m here with my penultimate Crafts-U-Love DT post .

This month, I received a couple of products by Marianne Design, the Tiny’s Deer Family die set* and the Classic Label die* .

I started by cutting the label die and largest deer from white cardstock which I then coloured with various distress inks.

I adhered the deer to my tag base and stamped a sentiment from the Julie Hickey Designs Essential Christmas Sentiments set.

I then tried the tag against a white background, but felt the background needed a little added interest.

I toyed with doing some stencilling or dry embossing but in the end I decided to use some off-white paper by The Paper Boutique. The pack I used was sent to me for a past DT post; it’s no longer in stock at Crafts-U-Love, but the Christmas Visitor pack and the Happy Days pack have similar colours. After trimming the paper to size, I stamped a few little stars from another Julie Hickey Designs set.

To finish off the tag, I added some stiffened ribbon which I curled by twisting it around a paint brush before adhering the tag to my card base using foam pads.

Thanks for stopping by!

Products marked with a ‘*’ were sent to me by Crafts-U-Love for this and past DT assignments.

Snowflake wishes

Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m playing along with this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge

I had fun playing with products with a lot of different companies for my take – the large snowflake is by Bright Rosa whilst the smaller snowflakes are from My Favorite Things. I used a heart stencil from Simon Says stamp with a baby wipe to lift ink from the blended strip and stamped a sentiment from an older Penny Black set.

I’m also entering this into the current CAS Stencil challenge where the challenge is to use a baby wipe.

Awesome die cuts

Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m playing along with this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge

Cecile has created a fabulous sketch for a square card – as I don’t seem to make many square cards, I decided I would stick to the shape of the base card, although I did tweak the shape of the elements!

I used products from so many companies for my take – the die cut frame is from the new Stylish Frame Trio set by Memory Box, the leaves are from Simply Graphic and the sentiment is from the Big Dots sentiments set by Waffle Flower.

I’m also entering this in the current Memory Box challenge to use a frame.

Bright sunflowers

Hello friends!

I’m finally back at my craft table after a short break and decided to play along with one of my favourite challenges and my brand new set of dies, the BotaniCuts sunflower dies from The Greetery. Such a great set!

Anyway, I thought they would be perfect for the gorgeous colour palette over at the Color Throwdown Challenge this week – navy, mustard, coral and cream.

I created a few inky backgrounds from my Distress Oxide inks and then used them for my sunflowers. I embossed a navy panel with a folder that I picked up in JoAnns, adhered the flowers and then added a Simon Says Stamp sentiment and a few gems to finish off my card.

Butterfly mosaic

Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m playing along with this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge where their 400th anniversary celebrations continue!

I love this week’s 400th sketch…. so many possibilities! In the end, I decided to create a square focal point using the Penny Black Wonky Squares background die which I filled with lots of Nuvo drops. I added the Memory Box Flitter Side Butterfly die and a sentiment from My Favorite Things to complete my take on the sketch.

One in a million

Hi Everyone!

I’m playing along with the current colour challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches. This week, we have a couple of shades of purple and yellow…. hmm a tricky combo !

I created a few ink blended panels and cut them with butterfly dies from Bright Rosa. I then masked off a section of my base card and stamped an image from the Garden Treasures set by Julie Hickey. The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted.
