Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Merriest Wishes Trio

My name is LucieG and I have a problem with Christmas tree stamps and dies. I can’t stop buying them. Every year I limit myself and every year, I end up buying more. There are so many cute designs around! One of my most recent acquisitions is this gorgeous stamp and die set, Enchanted Forest by Papertrey ink. I love those quirky trees!

I decided to play along with the sketch challenge at the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge – perfect for showcasing a few of those trees!

I used Altenew Inks – they stamp so beautifully – and added a sentiment by My Favorite Things – plus a nice amount of stickles too!

Mason Jar collection

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown! The pretty palette this week is rust, aqua, light blue and off white!

The latest Penny Black release contained the most gorgeous die set – Autumn Décor – Penny Black is quite difficult to get hold of here in the UK and once I found a stockist I stalked their site until they had this in stock and bought it immediately. I’ve paired the dies from the set with two other Penny Black die sets – Dainty Dashes Stackers and Leaflets. The sentiment is also by Penny Black.

Looking at the card now, I may have overdone the foliage… but the dies are just so pretty, I couldn’t stop myself!!

Whimsy Halloween

Happy Friyay Everyone!

It’s turned rather autumnal here, so I decided it was finally time to play along with the Memory Box / Outside the Box challenge where the theme is Haunted Halloween!

I thought I didn’t have any Memory Box Halloween dies in my collection, but happily I was wrong – I did picked up the Whimsy Ghost, Whimsy Cat and Whimsy Bat in 2017! I paired them with a Poppystamps die cut sentiment for my take on the challenge theme.

I created the background using my brand new Crackling Campfire distress oxide ink – you know, when I first saw it, I didn’t think I needed it, but I found it at a great price online here in the UK and decided to get it after all. I’m so glad I did, it’s a lovely orange! I’ve used it with Wilted Violet and Seedless Preserves here – love that combo!

Lovely Lumina

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with a new colour challenge, Color Hues! The palette is navy and turquoise.

I bought the gorgeous Lumina Layer die set by Birch Press Designs during lockdown and I finally played with it this weekend! Be warned, there will be more posts with this set coming soon!

I loved some of the designs created by Birch Press Design’s Design Team, especially Ardyth’s creations! She created one stunning card using alcohol markers to colour just the middle layer and I used that technique for this card. I adhered the layered stack to some navy cardstock which is a little darker than the navy petals and the Ellen Hutson sentiment is stamped in an Altenew turquoise which is slightly lighter than the turquoise petals. Such a fun card to create!

Water Jug bouquet

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown! The palette this week is grey, green. kraft and white – perfect for nature-based cards!

To start, smooshed a little Moss distress ink to the bottom of my card base and then applied texture paste using a stencil by My Favorite Things. While that was drying, I got die cutting with a brand new-to-me Marianne Designs Water Jug die set – seriously, it only landed on my doormat on Friday morning! Love it when I use my new goodies straight away!

The sentiment is by Sugar Pea Designs.
