Technique – die cutting

Featuring die cutting

Little white Willoughby butterfly

Hello Everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the Memory Box / Outside the Box challenge where the theme is ‘white focal point’.

Once I decided on my design and dies, I got to work blending a central oval. I die cut the Asti and Willoughby Butterfly wings dies from white card and white glitter card and adhered them all together. I worked out where I would position the butterfly before stamping the Altenew sentiment. After adhering my butterfly, I added a few baby sequins and hey presto, my card was finished!

Sounds simple doesn’t it! Believe me, the making of this card was certainly NOT a smooth process! This was actually my fourth attempt at the SAME card for this challenge. After messing up the stamping twice, when I went to write this blog post, I realised that I had inadvertently used POPPYSTAMPS dies for the card I had made specifically for for a MEMORY BOX challenge! Argh! As I was well-practiced with this design, I simply made it a fourth time with different inks and dies! You can see the other card here!

Little white Samirah butterfly

Hello Everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the CAS on Friday challenge where the theme is ‘butterfly’.

Once I decided on my design and dies, I got to work blending a central oval. I die cut the Poppystamps Murana and Samirah Butterfly dies from white card and white glitter card and adhered them all together. I added an Altenew sentiment. and a few baby sequins to complete my card!

Ah, what an edited version of a rather frustrating cardmaking process! First of all, I originally blended an oval onto a creased card base that kept on springing open. This resulted in the card moving slightly in the MISTI and so my sentiment go smudged. Can you believe I went through this process TWICE before I realised I needed to use a different card base! Honestly.

But that wasn’t the end of the story! Oh no, when I went to write my blog post, I realised that I had inadvertently used POPPYSTAMPS dies for the card I had made specifically for  for a MEMORY BOX challenge! Argh! So I decided to enter this into the CAS on Friday challenge and create a twin card using Memory Box dies for the Memory Box challenge. You can see that card here.

I’m also going to link up this card to the Anything Goes challenge on the Poppystamps blog.

Blue Flower Vine

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This is very similar to the card I made for the Two Quarters challenge at AAA Cards a few weeks ago, although one of the shaded areas is definitely smaller than the other! Plus I don’t have to get my ruler and calculator out for this one!

The Altenew Flower Vine stamp and die set have been sitting on my table since I made a card for the Altenew Ultimate Challenge Blog hop a few weeks ago. It’s such a pretty set, but like so many stamp sets, I’ve rarely used it since I bought it in early 2019. I thought it would be perfect for the sketch challenge. I coloured it with my beloved Twinkling H2O paints and added  some blue splatters and baby sequins too.

I’m also going to add this to the link up over at the Altenew Ultimate Challenge Blog hop.

Beverly Vine

Hi there!

Next up today is my card using the current sketch from the Tuesday Morning Sketches Challenge!

I had a lot of ideas for the sketch but when I sat down at my craft table, I saw the fabulous Poppystamps Beverly Vine die that I took out a couple of weeks ago but I ended up not using! So today was its chance to shine!

I coloured the image with distress inks and added detail with a Prisma pencil. The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted.

I’m also entering this into the current Poppystamps challenge where the theme is anything goes!

Christmas Card Throwdown – Birds

Hello everyone!

I’m honoured to be the Guest Designer for the current stash challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown! The challenge theme is ‘birds’.

I decided to create a tree of robins and cardinals for my take on the theme – I used dies by Memory Box, Poppystamps and Simon Says Stamp. The sentiment is from an older SSS set.

The Design Team have some amazing inspiration over on the challenge blog – you must check it out! Hope you can play along with the challenge!

Rosy Hello

Hi there everyone!

Next today I’m playing along with the fab combo in this week’s Color Throwdown challenge (pink, mint and grey).

First, I embossed the Hello with a Bouquet of Flowers die by Pinkfresh Studio onto white card before colouring the leaves and petals and trimming round the edge of the die cut. I then used the die to cut some grey cardstock and adhered the die cut to the coloured image. Finally I adhered it to my card base. Quite a simple card, but you would not believe how long it took me to colour that image – so time consuming!
