Spring Basket

Hello there!

The theme over at the Allsorts challenge this week is ‘Spring Flowers and I immediately thought of my large ‘Birch Bouquet’ stamp from Stampendous. It’s another one of those big images that I hadn’t used, but I happily inked it up and stamped away! It also stamped beautifully!

Once I had coloured all the flowers, I cut around the image using a Penny Black die and layered it onto some coloured card stock – it’s actually lighter in real life than it appears here! Honest!

To finish off the card, I added a sentiment from an older Simon Says Stamp set.

Seeing Purple

Hi there!

I’m back with another card using a stamp from my wood-mounted collection. Today, I chose Penny Black’s ‘Portraits’ stamp and decided to play along with the photo challenge over at the Just Us Girls Blog.

I coloured the flowers in purple watercolour and added some details with my Twinkling H2Os. I dotted a ton of silver stickles over the flowers and adhered a glittery Waffle Flower die cut sentiment to finish off my card.

Retro background

Hello friends!

Today I’m playing along with the current Time Out challenge where the theme is ‘retro’.

I had LOTS of ideas for this one, but as I’m using wood mounted stamps this month, I pulled out my old ‘Retro Background’ stamp from Woodware. I stamped it in teal Stazon and then coloured it with rust and grey Twinkling H2Os. Soooo shimmery!

I added a sentiment from a very old (and rather sticky!) clear set to finish off my card.

Butterfly Bear

Hello!

Today I’m playing along with the February Penny Black & More challenge where the theme is ‘anything goes’ with the option of tags.

For my take, I pulled out another of my adorable bear stamps – ‘Butterfly Bear’ by Penny Black. After stamping and colouring the image, I cut it out using a Penny Black tag die and added a Clearly Besotted sentiment.

I wanted to add a little something to the background and was delighted to stumble across my old ‘Butterfly Edge’ stamp, also by Penny Black. Originally I was going to stamp this using some pink or purple ink but I kept it simple in the end and used Pumice Stone distress oxide. I’m glad I did, I really like the subtle image it created!

Hey there, flower!

Hello everyone!

I’m back with my entry for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I used another older wood stamp (Tigress by Penny Black) that I stamped a couple of times at the base of my card. Once the ink was dry, I blended a little distress ink into the background before colouring the image with my Twinkling H2Os. Can you see that shimmer?

I added a few dots of stickles and a die cut sentiment from Simon Says Stamp to finish off my card.

Sending Spring Birthday Cheer

Happy Sunday everyone!

I pulled out another one of my older Magenta Art Stamps this morning. I’m afraid to say I have never used this one as it was so much bigger than I thought when I ordered it and quite honestly the size scared me! I was concerned about my ability to stamp a decent impression (although Magenta stamps stamp beautifully) and then my ability to colour the image – especially that big leaf!

But this past month focussing on wood-mounted stamps has really renewed my confidence in stamping without the MISTI and I have been practicing my colouring so I decided to give the stamp a whirl! I’m so glad I did!

I coloured it with my Twinkling H2Os using the palette from this week’s CAS Colours & Sketches challenge (saffron, yellow and green). I didn’t want too many layers on my card so I embossed a My Favorite Things frame die around the image and adhered a die cut sentiment from Honey Bee (as well as stamping ‘sending’ from a Clearly Besotted set). Finally, I added a few Nuvo Jewel dots to finish off my card.

Et voila! Day 21 colouring done!
