Happy Saturday!

Day 8 of the 30 Day Colouring Challenge and my personal wood stamp challenge.

Here is my card/colouring for today using a fun flowery stamp from Hampton Arts that I got during a work trip to the US a few years ago. My hotel was across the road from a Michaels and I was able to find some time to peruse the store and buy a few bits and pieces. I coloured it with my Twinkling H2Os and adhered it to a couple of pieces of coloured cardstock, following the sketch for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.

To finish off my card, I added a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp…. Am I the only one who struggles with strip sentiments sometimes? Trying to get it straight (using my MISTI) seemed to take as long as the colouring!

Find Your Happy

Hello everyone!

Day 7 of the latest Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring challenge and my personal wood stamp challenge.

Today I’m playing along with the latest challenge from The Paper Players. Have I mentioned how happy I am that I found this challenge? I love that each week there’s a different type of challenge, plus their timeline (announcing the challenge on a Sunday with a Friday deadline) is different and  really works well for me at the moment!

Anyway, on to today’s card. The theme of the challenge is CAS/summer beverages. I was a bit concerned when I first saw this challenge… I do have a few drinks stamps, but I don’t consider any of them to be that summery!! Imagine my relief when I spotted this cute Margaret Sherry/Penny Black Bear, ‘kickin’, from 2007! I don’t really do cutesy, but as I discovered earlier this year, I do love colouring this little bear.

For today’s card, I used my Twinkling H2Os and a light dusting of distress oxide ink. I added a little interest to the card base with the Penny Black Butterfly Edge stamp, also from 2007, although I suspect I bought this one a bit later!

The sentiment is from an older set by Simon Says Stamp.

Hello everyone!

OK, so I know when I planned my wood-mounted stamp challenge, I earmarked July for using my Christmas stamps. However, it seems I can’t wait for Christmas in July! It’s just Day 6 of the latest Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring challenge and my personal wood stamp challenge and I’ve already inked up a Christmas stamp!

In my defence, when I saw the Stampendous Greetings Window in one of my stamp boxes, I knew it would fit the CAS Christmas challenge so well that I just HAD to use it! The theme of the challenge this month is ‘gifts’ and I thought this stamp would be perfect for that!

I decided to use a sketch from a new-to-me challenge, TGIF Challenges, so my first step was to choose some patterned paper. I had my doubts about using a gift-themed paper as I was a bit concerned that it would be too matchy-matchy… but I think it works OK in the end. After embossing the image, I coloured it using my Twinkling H2O paints and then adhered it to my base card using sticky fixers. Et voila! Super quick and easy Christmas card done! Must remember this design when I create cards for the Caring Hearts drive later this year.

Day 5 of the latest Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring challenge and my personal wood stamp challenge.

Today I’m playing along with the latest Case This Sketch challenge with the fabulous new colour combo over at the Color Throwdown (pink, aqua, lavender and mint).

I must admit, I spent a LONG time mulling over my entry for the sketch challenge. It’s a fabulous sketch but I wanted to use a wood-mounted sentiment stamp AND incorporate some colouring! Eventually I alighted on one of my newer wood stamps, Yay by Hero Arts. I embossed it using white powder, masked off the letters and blended some Distress Oxide over the background before colouring the letters using my Zig Color Clean Brush markers and some regular distress ink.

Then I had to figure out what to use on the background – as I didn’t feel one of my leafy swirl dies would fit with the sentiment. I was flicking through my dies and stumbled on the Hero Arts Party Confetti Fancy background die and thought its elements could work quite nicely with a bit of careful placement. So I cut it from a distress oxide panel and arranged the streamers in a similar pattern et voila! My completed entry!

Day 4 of the latest Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring challenge and my personal wood stamp challenge.

Today I’m playing along with the latest My Favorite Things sketch challenge. I don’t usually play along with these challenges as I don’t have that many stamps by MFT, although I love them a lot! However, I saw that you can play along even if you don’t use MFT products, which I’m really pleased about because they have some fun sketches!

I used an older wood-mounted stamp, Cat Blocks, by Inca Stamp/Personal Impressions and a sentiment from a MFT kitty set. I has so much fun colouring these kitties!

Hello Lovely

Hello everyone!

Day 3 of the latest Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring challenge and my personal wood stamp challenge.

Today I’m playing along with the challenges over at the Color Throwdown and Try Stampin’ On Tuesday.

I used the fabulous Flower Cluster Sketch stamp by Hero Arts from the 2005 collection. The Color Throwdown colours (yellow, orange, hot pink and green) are much brighter than my preferred, more muted palette, but that’s why I love this challenge so much – it often pushes me beyond my colour wheel comfort zone!

I decided to practice with my Zig Clean Color Real brush pens. I still need a LOT of practice, but using them on Bristol cardstock makes them much easier to use!

When I finished colouring, I stamped a Mama Elephant sentiment and adhered the image to a base card that I’d assembled following the challenge sketch.
