AAA Cards One Layer challenge with coffee twist

Hi there!

It’s time for the a new challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a one-layer CAS card; our optional twist is ‘coffee’! As we don’t have a sponsor this time our lovely admin, Jane is offering a £10 gift voucher to a craft store of the winner’s choice.

I have a rather vast stamp collection and a lot hold little memories, so bear with me as I take a trip down memory lane…. For my card, I used a stamp from the Tim Holtz Stamptember 2015 collaboration with Simon Says Stamp. I actually won this set during Simon Says Create 2015 – I remember Heidi said she had a few sold out sets as prizes for us and I hoped one would be the Stamptember Newton’s Nook set! I LOVED it but it sold out before I could buy it… luckily a few years later Newton came out with a very similar set as part of their regular releases which I was able to get hold of! I was still very excited to win the coveted Tim Holtz set of course, although I have to confess this is the first time I’ve used it. Almost five years later. Where does the time go?

Anyway, on to my card…I masked off the sentiment that is part of this stamp and coloured the stamped image using my Twinkling H2O paints – that shimmer is so difficult to photograph though! I covered the image and also used a Taylored Expressions mask to contain the ink splatters that I added as my finishing touch.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined a previous challenge winner, Stephanies, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

Lovely Lumina

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along with a new colour challenge, Color Hues! The palette is navy and turquoise.

I bought the gorgeous Lumina Layer die set by Birch Press Designs during lockdown and I finally played with it this weekend! Be warned, there will be more posts with this set coming soon!

I loved some of the designs created by Birch Press Design’s Design Team, especially Ardyth’s creations! She created one stunning card using alcohol markers to colour just the middle layer and I used that technique for this card. I adhered the layered stack to some navy cardstock which is a little darker than the navy petals and the Ellen Hutson sentiment is stamped in an Altenew turquoise which is slightly lighter than the turquoise petals. Such a fun card to create!

Autumn Owl

Happy Saturday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the colour challenge at the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge. I love the autumnal combo!

I used a couple of Penny Black clear stamp sets – Delicate Flowers and Acorns and Animals and coloured the images using my beloved twinkling H2O paints. To complete my card, I splattered some paint and added a sentiment from a 2018 My Monthly Hero set.

AAA Cards One layer challenge with hobby twist

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a one-layer CAS card. Our optional twist this time is ‘my other hobby’. Joy Clair Designs is our sponsor.

One of my other hobbies is gardening – but I don’t do any baskets or pots of annuals and it’s been a few years since I went to Hampton Court Flower Show… so I guess gardening for me tends to be more like what I think our friends in the US call ‘yard work’ – you know, landscaping projects, weeding, pruning, shrub planting, mowing and watering. Oh my word, the watering this year….. I can’t be the only garden owner who is relieved that our heat wave finally broke at the end of the week!

Anyway, on to my card for this challenge! For AAA, one layer means just the card base, no additional die cuts unless it is inlaid into the card base. A one-layer challenge is mainly a stamping or stencilling challenge for me really. I’ve actually used clear stamp sets for a couple of gardening cards whilst I’ve been blogging (here and here), so I turned to my old wood-mounted rubber stamp collection this week! I used an old Funstamps stamp called Gardening Shelf which I felt was a good reflection of my yard work type of gardening!! I coloured the image with my Twinkling H2O paints… and yes, I do have purple gloves for gardening!! The sentiment is by Mama Elephant.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined by a previous challenge winner, Coni, who has some fun inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

AAA Cards Along the edge challenge with beach twist

Hi there!

It’s time for another challenge at AAA Cards!  This fortnight we’d like you to create a CAS card using just one edge of your card. Our optional twist this time is ‘beach’. Stamplorations is our sponsor.

We had a beach theme back when I had just started on the AAA challenge blog – see the card I made at the time here. I was tempted to use those fabulous beach huts again but then as I was reorganising my craft room, I came across the beautiful Stampin Up Summer By the Sea set that I’ve had for well over a decade. I don’t think I’ve ever used the boy/sandcastle stamp and thought it would be perfect for this challenge! And I love inking up those wood-mounted stamps, there is nothing like them! Of course cling and clear stamps are much easier to use nowadays with the MISTI and other stamp platforms! I coloured the image with my Twinkling H2O paints and added a sentiment from a Simon Says Stamp set to complete my card.

My team mates have come up with some beautiful cards which are on the AAA Cards challenge blog. We are also joined by a previous challenge winner, Vicky, who has some lovely inspiration on her blog!

Hope you can play along with us!

Christmas in July 2020 – Day 29

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 29 of Christmas in July! Today I’m playing along with the sketch challenge at  CAS Colours and Sketches.

I used another Penny Black set today for the main image – this is from a much newer mini set called Nature’s Decor. I coloured it using my beloved Twinkling H2O paints and added a circle frame from Simply Graphic. The sentiment is from a My Favorite Things set.

Thanks for stopping by!
