Moonlit Owl

Hi there!

For today’s card, I used the Moonlit Owl die from Sizzix/Tim Holtz. I love owls and have looked at this die a LOT over the past few months. But I couldn’t quite justify buying it…. and then it sold out from my local craft store. I was a bit disappointed, especially as I kept seeing other crafters using the die after it had sold…

Imagine my delight when my local store had one back in stock at the end of last week – AND it was deeply discounted! Of course I snapped it up!

Anyway I used it for my entry into the current Color Throwdown challenge. I just LOVE the colour combo (purple, black and white) this week – so striking!

Merry Making – Day 4 Holiday Die Cutting

Hi there!

I had been looking forward to Day 4 of Online Card Classes’ Merry Making class  – Holiday die cutting. And it did not disappoint!

First up is my take on Jennifer McGuire’s background die gatefold card. Rather than use a detailed cutting plate, I decided to make a scene using dies from memory Box, Taylored Expressions and Tim Holtz/Sizzix. I guess it ended up being a hybrid of Jennifer and Nicole Spohr’s card (100% die cutting!).

I must say the timing for this card idea is perfect as I just discovered a load of pre-scored gatefold cards which I’ve had for YEARS! Now I have a great way of using up that cardstock!

My second card for this post features the technique demonstrated by Julie Ebersole – hidden die cut! I first tried this technique in March and I love it!

I decided that the Simon Says Stamp/Avery Elle Stamptember set would be perfect for this. I coloured the image using my Twinkling H2Os and some white paint. The stamp is from an older Hero Arts set and the die is by Mama Elephant.

Time out – glorious bird

Hi Everyone!

I’m back with my second card as guest designer for the current Time Out challenge. The theme of the challenge is to CASE a card created by the talented Beverley Brown. Here’s my second take on it! I used my distress inks to create a blended striped rainbow background and added a die cut from Sizzix. I finished off the card with a sentiment stamp from Ellen Hutson and a few sequins!

You Nailed It!

Happy Friyay!

This week’s theme for the Less is More challenge is ‘use a real object’. I’ve been doing a lot of DIY recently so I decided to go with a nail! I wanted to use the phrase ‘you nailed it’ but I don’t have a stamp of that – although I bet I will find it in one of my stamp sets tomorrow! Anyway, I printed it off on white card on my home printer and then stamped the Altenew ‘yay’ above it using Delicata black shimmer ink – it is so shimmery in real life!

I used a die from the Hero Arts 12 point star set as the focal point and then stuck the nail on it using some washi tape…. not sure how long it will hold!

I then stuck the panel on a background that I had embossed with a Sizzix/Tim Holtz folder.

Glittery Yay

Hi There!

The Freshly Made Sketches challenge is celebrating 300 sketches this week and here is my take on their fabulous sketch.

I used a die from Clearly Besotted, plus a Tim Holtz/Sizzix embossing folder and patterned paper from My Minds Eye.

After cutting out the ‘yay’, I coated it with sparkle embossing powder – this card really sparkles in real life – will add a close up later!

Sending Sunshine

Hello everyone!

The theme for this week’s Less is More challenge is ‘spots and stripes’ and it’s time for the dreaded one-layer card!

Actually, I quite enjoy making one-layer cards…. but this time it was VERY DIFFICULT not to add some sequins!

I used a fishtail die to create a mask and then did some ink blending and stencilling to create the image. I added a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp to finish it off!
