Cardinal in June

Happy Festive Friyay!

My training for Christmas in July continues today with my card for the current sketch challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown!

What a great sketch! I had originally planned to use a snowflake die set for my focal point but soon realised that the image would be too big – so I pivoted and pulled out the new-to-me Poppystamps Bird House Pop Up Easel die set that I picked up in a sale earlier this year. I have to confess that I bought the entire set because I LOVED that cardinal die!

I created the background strip using some coloured card, a Simon Says Stamp embossing folder and tons of distress oxide ink. The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted.

Red Bouquet

Happy June everyone!

How can it be June already? After a super busy May, I’m hoping to have more crafty time this month and I want to gear up for my annual Christmas in July challenge!

Today I’m playing along in this week’s Color Throwdown challenge which has a very patriotic red, white and blue combo. I briefly toyed with creating a litt;e London scene with some of my older stamps but my dies won the day and so I ended up with a non-patriotic card, although I do feel this could also be used as a remembrance card.

The two flower dies are by Simon Says Stamp (Layered Perky Flower and Cosmos Stem) and I adhered them to a background embossed with my favourite Stampin Up folder called Painted Texture.

The stamp is by The Greetery.

Joyful Nordic Butterfly

Hello everyone!

Just a quick post with my entry for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches.

I used a whole host of products by different manufacturers for this one! The Nordic Fanfare Butterfly and Nordic Butterfly Trio dies are by Poppystamps. I used a Simon Says Stamp embossing folder and Basic Grey paper for the background layers and the sentiment is by Taylored Expressions.

Little Cotton Tails

Hello everyone!

Next up today is my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I knew I wanted to use the sweet Oh Bunny set by Simon Says Stamp for my take and I love Lisa Addesa’s clever card using this set so decided to incorporate her inspiration into my take on the sketch.

I used a couple of dies from the My Favorite Things Stitched Domes STAX die set to cut a window in my card base and a separate base for my bunny scene. I blended distress ink over the larger dome and then stamped, cut and coloured the largest bunny image from the stamp set.

I blended various green distress inks on a panel of white card which I then cut using a couple of Lawn Fawn grass dies. I then adhered the grass die cuts to the outside of the card and the bunny scene to the inside of my card. I adhere some white mini pompoms to each bunny.

To complete my card, I added a Memory Box sentiment.

Heart Week – Day 6

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 6 of Heart Week!

My heart card today is my entry for the colour challenge at the Color Throwdown which has a palette of blue, lime and brown.

My focal point today is one of my oldest Simon Says Stamp die sets – the Heart Wreath die which dates from 2014! I can’t believe this die is ten years old! I can’t remember when I bought it but I do know I’ve had it a while.. maybe eight years or so. I went back into the Simons gallery to get some inspiration and found this beautiful card by the talented Debby Hughes.

I coloured the wreath, leaves and hearts with distress inks and cut a vellum tag using a die from the Stitched Banners set. I adhered everything to a background that I’d stamped with a 2018 stamp (Modern Rose Blooms). I then added a Poppystamps sentiment (Doodle Happy Valentine’s Day) and a sprig by Memory Box (Sylvan Sprig).
