Rainbow Maker, Day 2 Cards

Hello everyone!

Day 2 of Online Card Classes’ Rainbow Maker class was all about rainbow stamping! After last night’s epic crafty session, I am determined to go to bed at a decent hour! I have managed to get one card completed and here it is:

I used a butterfly stamp by Hero Arts and fabulous inks by Altenew! I am so impressed by how well they stamp.

To complete the card, I added a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp and a few of my favourite Pretty Pink Posh sequins! I’m going to enter this one into the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge (Happy Birthday).

Hoping to add to this post later this week, when I’ve had a chance to do a bit more rainbow stamping!

Rainbow Maker, Day 1 cards

Hello everyone!

I signed up to Online Card Classes’ Rainbow Maker class which is running this week. I’m going to try to write a blog post for my creations from each of the days…

So Day 1 was all about rainbow inking. LOVED IT! All the teachers were so inspiring and I stayed up super late creating! I will definitely do more of the techniques

As soon as I saw the dotted background using sponge daubers, I knew I had to try it out. I used Distress Oxide inks and thought it would be fun to try them on white and blue cardstock:

Isn’t it interesting to see the way the inks appear on the blue card? The Spiced Marmalade and Fossilised Amber look sooo similar! Anyway, I added die cuts from Simon Says Stamp and called those two cards done!

I’m entering the first card into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge where the theme is ‘Happy Birthday’.

Next up was the Rainbow Queen, Laura Bassen, and layered masking and stencilling. I chose some Ellen Hudson dies, a Creative Expressions stencil and an array of distress inks. Love the effect!  I added a die from Lawn Fawn to complete the card.

Finally it was onto Julie Ebersole’s video – and ‘abstract direct to paper’. Oh my goodness! This was so far out of my comfort zone…. I used inks from Simon Says Stamp and also Altenew. At first they were quite dark, but the inks dried back to lovely soft tones to give an amazing effect! I love this technique and can see myself using it on other cards. I added a Die-versions die to finish off my card.

So a great start to the class, looking forward to the rest of the week!

Splattered Congrats!

Hi everyone!

This is a super simple card inspired by the current challenge over at the Freshly Made Sketches blog!

I splattered Distress Oxide inks onto three strips of card which I then cut up and stuck to a base card. I then added a glittered Simon Says Stamp die cut and some stars to finish it off!

I’m also entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (Splatter it) and the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge (Splatter it!).

Butterfly Friend

I’ve found a great new-to-me challenge over at the Always Playing with Paper blog.

Challenge Number 93 provided a few cue words for inspiration – we can choose to follow as many or as few as we like!

The cue words are: simple, butterfly, monochromatic, circle and friendship.

I chose all of them apart from monochromatic and used dies from Simons Says Stamp and Simply Graphic together with a stamp from Hero Arts for my entry.

Shimmering Hummingbirds

Hi everyone!

I’ve seen a few cards with humming birds recently and I really love them, so I bought the Hero Arts hummingbird dies to play with! I’m really looking forward to creating lots of different coloured birds with them!

Anyway, today, I coloured them with my Twinkling H20s and added them to the gorgeous Simon Says Stamp Bouquet of Thanks stamp. Lots of shimmer on this card (again!!).

I’m entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge and Simon Says Stamp Work it Wednesday.

Fabulous Flamingos

Happy Saturday!

For today’s card, I masked off a section of cardstock and lightly blended some distress ink. I then stamped a flamingo background stamp from Simon Says Stamp using distress oxide ink. Love how easy it is to stamp with those inks.

Anyway, I used part of a sentiment from a Simon Says Stamp set and then added a die cut word from Ellen Hutson that I cut out several times for depth.

A few yellow enamel dots completed the card!

I’m entering this into a number of challenges – Freshly Made Sketches , the Color Throwdown (raspberry pink, green and yellow) and the Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge (anything goes).
