Ikebana card

Hi there!

I’m quickly popping in with my entry for this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

I’ll be back later to add more photos, but want to make sure I hit the challenge deadline!

ETA – I’m so relieved I managed to get my entry in this evening. This week has been busy and I really haven’t felt like crafting! I only had a couple of hours to create a card this evening and although the card came together quickly, I wasted a lot of time trying to stamp a ‘perfect’ sentiment…. and after all that,  I had huge computer issues. I really thought I wouldn’t make it.

Anyway, I used a fabulous die set by Sizzix called ‘Ikebana’. I cut the images from Craft Consortium paper and then dry embossed a piece of my precious Basic Grey paper with a favourite Simon Says Stamp embossing folder called ‘Spun Glass’. I splattered some gold paint over the background, but the splatters are rather subtle so you can’t really see them in my photos.

The sentiment ifs from a My Favorite Things set.

Sakura Celebration Day 2

Hi there!

Today I’m playing along with this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. Lots of layers and lots of older supplies used by yours truly this week!

I started by adhering a section of Memory Box’s Grape Vine border die to my card base.

I then created the central fishtail panel using distress inks, an older Cuttlebug embossing folder and a die by Simon Says Stamp.

The focal point is an older sakura stamp from Hero Arts’ Asian Frames clear set.

Daffodils and butterflies

Happy Sunday friends!

Spring seemed to spring in my little part of the world this week and I managed to do some gardening, although today was less pleasant. Still I was in the mood for spring crafting and when I saw that the theme for this fortnight’s challenge at CAS on Sunday was ‘spring’, I decided to play along!

The daffodils are popping in my garden and all around the place right now – I love the bright bursts of colour, especially on greyer days like today! So I grabbed the Simon Hurley/Spellbinders Daffodil Frame die set and my inks and got busy!

I added my image to a background I had embossed with the Simon Says Stamp Floral Butterfly Bouquet folder. I love these tulip images and only noticed the butterflies after I had read the folder name when it was released last month. So when I felt that my card needed something more, a few butterflies seemed the natural choice and I die cut some using the Simon Says Stamp Flickering Butterflies set.

The sentiment is from an older Memory Box set.

Heart Week 2025 – Day 7

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 7 of Heart Week 2025 and what a fun week it has been too – mixing very old and very new products to create some fun heart cards!

My heart card today is my entry for this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. I used products from MANY different companies for this card – the branch is by Poppystamps, the hearts are Penny Black and a very old Simon Says Stamp/Kelly Purkey collaboration and the die cut hangers are from a Waffle Flower Crafts Christmas ornament die set! I used an inky panel I’d created from some Distress Mica Stain Spray for the larger heart and then some Craft Consortium paper for the aqua hearts. The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted.

Heart Week 2025 – Day 4

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 3 of Heart Week 2025!

My heart card today is my entry for the challenges hosted by Simon Says Stamp this week. The theme of Monday’s challenge is ‘bright and cheerful’ and Wednesday’s challenge is  ‘love is in the air’. I think this card fits both! I’m also entering this into a brand new challenge called The Neglected Stuff Challenge. The main image in the card is a coverplate die from Simon Says Stamp called floating hearts. It’s dated 2014 and I think I picked it up in 2015 or 2016 when it was in their sale section. I really thought I had used this die before but I can’t find a card with it on my blog. Maybe I created something before I started this blog back in 2017. In any case, I think that we can all agree it is most definitely neglected, poor thing!

I cut it from some speciality paper by Tonic Studios and adhered it to a layer cut from thicker card. This was a bit fiddly so I think I would adhere the paper to the card first before die cutting if I were to do this again! Anyway, I used foam tape to adhere it to a panel cut from ombre glitter card (also by Tonic). Oh how I love this glitter card! It’s so pretty! I only wish the cardstock dimensions were smaller so I could get the full range of the ombre onto a cardbase. Maybe I should suggest that to Tonic!

I love the texture that the speciality paper has given the little hearts. I also added a few punched dots of glitter card here and there.

The sentiment is from a set by Waffle Flower Crafts.
