Playful Pusscat

Hello friends!
I decided to play along with the current Time Out challenge today. The theme is ‘playful’ and I decided to turn Memory Box’s Crouching Cat into a playful kitty swinging from a Simon Says Stamp tree, ready to pounce on an unsuspecting passer-by!
The kitty’s paws are separate from the main die cut and as I wanted the kitty to be able to swing a little, I adhered them to the cat using some acetate rather than sticking them onto the card separately.
I adhered the frame to a rainbow background created with Distress Oxide inks and added a Memory Box sentiment and a few die cut hearts to finish off the card.

Just for you
Good morning everyone!
This week, I have the honour of being the Guest Designer over at one of my favourite challenges – the Color Throwdown Challenge.
The palette for this challenge is pale pink, brown, black and white, another fabulous combination, don’t you think?
I had an initial plan of a card for this combo and knew I wanted to play with Poppystamps’ Whittle Bird dies, but that’s the only thing that stayed the same! Once I stumbled across my old Simon Says Stamp Woodland rectangular frame, the card changed completely! I added another older SSS die – Fresh Daisies – and got to work. So amazing to see these dies were produced in 2013 and 2014! Time flies!
Anyway, I coloured the flowers and birds with Nuvo alcohol pens and added a bit of detail using a Prismacolor pencil before adhering the die cuts to my card base. I added a Clearly Besotted sentiment to complete my card.
There’s some amazing inspiration from the Color Throwdown DT over on the challenge blog – I do hope you can play along this week!

Birthday Wreath

Happy birthday to my lovely mum!
My mum loves wreaths so I always make at least one for her on each special occasion!
Here’s the card I made for her this time – I used the Simon Says Stamp Floral Sparkle Wreath that I picked up when it appeared one their deals and steals page a few weeks ago.
I cut the wreath from different coloured cardstock and then did some inlaid die cutting. And while I was at it, I created four more inlaid die cut wreaths – got to build up my birthday card pile!
Anyway, I added a touch of Pixie Dust to the wreath before cutting around the image using a Penny Black die. Finally I added a sentiment from Hero Arts to complete my card.
I’m entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge (anything goes) and also the Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge where the theme is ‘Mother’s Day/Flowers’.

Embossed flowers

Hello there!
It’s been a while since I played with my embossing folders so I decided to use one for my take on the CAS Colours & Sketches sketch challenge.
I masked off three rectangles and then lightly blended some distress ink, using colours from the Color Throwdown colour palette (yellow, orange, navy and green).
I then used a Crafts-Too embossing folder to emboss the entire panel which I stuck to my card base. I added a strip of ink-blended cardstock and a Simon Says Stamp die-cut sentiment in navy.

Spring Pebbles

Hello friends!
Easter may be over, but the rain showers we just had are a clear indicator that spring definitely isn’t over just yet!
Today I’m playing along with the Case This Sketch challenge and used the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge mood board as inspiration.
I’ve had the Simon Says Stamp Pebbles die on my wish list for a LONG time and snapped it up in their Christmas sale. Of course, it’s taken me AGES to actually use it!
Anyway, I loved Lisa Addesa’s inspiration and decided to use here technique of colouring an embossed version of the die. Rather than use pens, I chose my under-used Nuvo Jewel Drops which provide the prefect spring palette!
To finish of the card, I added a few Nuvo drops and a die from Mama Elephant.
I’m also entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge – die cutting.
