Christmas in July – Day 25

Hi Everyone

Day 25 of Christmas in July and I’m die cutting again today! Today I used an older Memory Box die, Gabriella Border, from 2013, with the sketch from the current Case This Sketch Challenge – which nearly had me stumped by the way!

The embossing folder is by Taylored Expressions and the word die is from an older set by Simon Says Stamp. I

Christmas in July – Day 23

Hi Everyone!

It’s Christmas in July Day 23 and I’ve been playing with my Hero Arts supplies again today.

I used a sketch from another a new-to-me challenge, the Inspire Create Challenges. I decided to case a card I’d made last year, inspired by Yana Smakula. I heat embossed the Hero Arts Christmas Lights background and coloured it with my Prismacolour pencils before applying a layer of Nuvo Crystal drops on top. I die cut a circle from a piece of black card and adhered it onto my coloured image using foam tape. To finish off my card, I added a Hero Arts die cut and an embossed word from an older Simon Says Stamp set.

I’m also entering this into the current A Blog Named Hero challenge where the theme is Christmas in July.

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas in July – Day 22

Hi Everyone!

It’s Christmas in July Day 22 and today I’m playing along with another new-to-me challenge, the Fusion Card challenge. I decided to use both parts of the challenge as I loved the sketch and I also really enjoy making my Christmas in July cards with non-traditional colours.

I used one of my oldest Simon Says Stamp dies, the Mod Christmas Tree as my focal point and after adhering it to a die-cut oval, I covered it with a generous amount of Nuvo glitter drops! I added a strip of patterned paper to my card base before adhering the tree/oval.

Finally I stamped a sentiment by Penny Black.

Christmas in July – Day 21

Hi Everyone!

It’s Christmas in July Day 21 and I have stepped away from the die cutting… well almost! An embossed image is the focal point today, but I have lots of die cut elements!

I’m playing along with a new-to-me challenge, the Global Design Project, which has a fun sketch this week. I embossed a sentiment stamp from Hero Arts and adhered it to a card base that I’d covered with some older paper from My Mind’s Eye. To finish off my card, I added some glittery poinsettia cut using the Simon Says Stamp Poinsettia Parade die.

I’m also entering this into the current A Blog Named Hero challenge where the theme is Christmas in July.

Christmas in July – Day 18

Hi Everyone

Day 18 of Christmas in July and my pile of Christmas cards is growing nicely!

Today I used a Simply Graphic tree die and the colour palette from this week’s CAS Colours and Sketches Challenge .

I always have a problem with navy, especially photographing it. It either looks black or too light! So I decided to try something different today and used some blue cardstock which I darkened using Chipped Sapphire distress ink. I like how it turned out as it meant I could lift some ink to create a snowy effect around the trees.

I added a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp to finish off this card.

Christmas in July – Day 15

Hi Everyone

It’s Christmas in July Day 15 and I finally got to play with my gorgeous festive dies! I chose a fun snowflake die from Simon Says Stamp and a embossing plate from Ellen Hutson for my take on the latest Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I was originally intending to simply add the snowflake die to the centre of the card, but decided to make a shaker at the last minute!

The sentiment is by Hero Arts.
