Double challenge time again

Hi everyone!

Today I’m playing along with the ‘double’ challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches. This challenge combines colours AND a sketch… and can be quite tricky… but hey, that’s why they are called challenges, isn’t it?

For my card, I used the Oval of Flowers die by Simon Says Stamp and inlaid die cut pieces which I had coloured using Distress Oxide inks. I added a little definition to the pieces using coloured pencils. I layered the die cut panel on apiece of kraft card before adhering it to my card base. Finally I adhered a sentiment from the Easter Greetings set, also by Simon Says Stamp.

I’m also entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge where the theme is ‘Anything Goes’.

Embracing Plaid

Hello again Everyone!

So I wasn’t going to play along with the ‘Can You Handle the Pressure‘ challenge this past fortnight as the twist is plaid. I don’t have much plaid patterned paper and couldn’t think of a ‘LucieG’ way of using it! Then this evening inspiration struck! Luckily there were still a few hours before the challenge closed and this was a really quick make!

I used the Stampin’ Up Brick and Mortar embossing folder and added the Simon Says Stamp Stars Parade die cut. I inlaid plaid, green and glitter stars and then added a little My Favorite Things sentiment.

Hello Magnolias!

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

We’ve had some amazing spring time weather recently and I noticed that quite a few magnolia trees are starting to bloom! The perfect time to use my new Simon Says Stamp Etched Magnolia die I think!

I was originally going to include 3 magnolia blooms on the card but it felt a little overcrowded so I substitued the middle image for a bold Waffle Flower sentiment.

I used an older Memory Box die (Grape Vine Border) for the vertical strip.

Older Simons die cuts

Hello everyone!

Today I’m playing along in the sketch challenge hosted by Sunday Stamps.

For my take on the sketch, I started by cutting some patterned paper with a die from Paper Rose’s Track Circle frame set. I then cut two older Simon Says Stamp dies – the Adeline Butterfly and the Calliope Flourish and coloured them with distress inks.

I added a few Nuvo drops to the flower centres, a Sugar Pea Designs sentiment and a few sequins to complete my take.

Waltham Egg card

Happy Saturday!

Today I’m playing along in the Color Throwdown challenge which has a fabulous palette of pink, lime green and grey.

When I saw the inspiration photo, I really wanted to play with my Kitsch Flamingo distress ink, which I felt would be perfect, especially as I haven’t used the colour very much as I tend to gravitate towards the pastels. However, I also had an idea for the Waltham Egg by Memory Box and went with it. I decided to colour the foliage on the egg with my Twinkling H2Os rather than the distress ink so Kitsch Flamingo stayed in my drawer.. again! I did use Hickory Smoke for the egg background.

Anyway, after assembling the egg, I adhered it to a panel that I’d embossed using Simon Says Stamps’ Splendid Leaves embossing folder and added a few white branches cut with the Memory Box viburnum branches. The sentiment is by Sugar Pea Designs.

Waffle Flower bouquet

Hello again everyone!

Next up today I’m playing along in the sketch challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches using dies from the Flower Stems set by Waffle Flower Crafts.

After colouring the dies cuts with Distress Oxide inks and coloured pencil, I cut an oval from my card base. I then adhered a piece of vellum embossed using the Simon Says Stamp Geometric Lattice embossing folder.

Finally I added a sentiment by Sugar Pea Designs, some sequins and stickles.
