A Happy Meowlloween

Happy Monday everyone!

Today I’m playing along with this week’s  Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

Each year I tell myself ‘no more Halloween supplies’ and each year I succumb! I just couldn’t help myself when I spotted these cute Poppystamps Ghostly Cats dies when I was buying a few of their Christmas dies from Bumbleberrys. I was so surprised that we in the UK had the release on launch day – we usually have to wait a few weeks to get hold of it! And I was even more pleased to see that these dies are made in the USA!

Anyway, I have taken a few liberties with the challenge sketch. My kitties were smaller than the triangles in the sketch so I turned the sketch into and element on the card base.

The background panel is a Simon Says Stamp embossing folder (I used the debossed side so that the cute ghosts didn’t overwhelm the kitties) and the sentiment is from a very old set by My Favorite Things.

I’ve just seen that the Poppystamps challenge this month is ‘clean and simple’ – my favourite! So I’m entering this there too!

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 20

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 20 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024!

I picked up the pretty Poppystamps Nordic Whimsy Trees and Nordic Tree Toppers die sets in a post-Christmas sale this year and I’ve been looking at them on and off since the start of Christmas in July. I know I should use them, but for some reason I couldn’t figure out a way to make them work for me…

Then yesterday I saw the new Poppystamps Christmas in July release and immediately knew what had been holding me back – the trees needed trunks!

So, drawing inspiration from the new Nordic Treeline die (which I will HAVE to buy btw), I cut some trunks from another die set and got to work!

I used another Poppystamps die for the vellum circle and the hillside was created with a Memory Box die.

The sentiment is by Mama Elephant.

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 16

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 16 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024 and today I have another twofer to share.

Today’s focal point is the Wide Pine Needle Shoots die set by Poppystamps – I’ve already used it once this month, but I had a few more ideas for it!  I cut it from dark green card and glitter card and got busy!

For my first card, I cut some green card with an Alex Syberia background die. I adhered my tree to a tag cut from an Altenew die and added a silver bow and die cut star before affixing it to my card base.

For my second card, I embossed the background with a Spellbinders folder and adhered my tree with another little die cut star. The sentiment is from an older Hero Arts wood-mounted set.

So which one do you prefer?

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 13

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 13 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024! I noticed that my instagram feed was feeling decidedly aqua so it’s time for a splash of red today!

I chose the cardinal from Poppystamps’ Bird House Pop Up Easel set and coloured it with alcohol markers. I then cut and coloured the Memory Box Forest Pine Branch with distress inks. To ground my images, I used a frame from Poppstamps’ Stitchwork Circle Frames set and some of my beloved Basic Grey patterned paper.

The sentiment is from my go-to Mama Elephant Mini Merry Messages set.

Christmas in July 2024 – Day 3

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 3 of LucieG’s Christmas in July 2024!

Today I’m playing with Poppystamps dies to create a little Snowglobe!

The focal point is actually made from two die sets released a year apart – the Pine Needle Shoots set that I used for this card last year and the Wide Pine Needle Shoots that was released for Christmas 2023. When I saw the wider die set, I had an idea to combine the two sets so I was happy to put that idea into reality today! I’ve gone for a snow-tinged effect with the thin white glitter card shoots but this could work with different shades of green or whatever colour you want your little tree to be!

The snowglobe itself is made with the Simple Rings and Snowglobe Bases die sets plus some Lawn Fawn patterned paper.

Sunset Potpourri Flowers

Hello again everyone!

This week’s Color Throwdown challenge has a sunset combo which is quite similar to last week’s – yellow, orange and red (instead of fuchsia) so I was determined to create something that I felt was quite different to last week.

I chose a white base, oriented it as a landscape card, pulled out the Potpourri Flower Set die by Poppystamps and got crafty!

I quickly coloured the flowers with distress inks but I have to confess that it took me FAR TOO LONG to arrange the die cut flowers…. I love this style of card but I can never seem to get the positioning right when I create them!

Eventually, I found an arrangement that I felt was OK, adhered the die cuts and added some coordinating Nuvo Jewel Drops to the centres of the flowers. The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted.
